Yup - and an order of magnitude larger than 2008 because the system leverage is an order of magnitude larger. People falsely believe the wealth is safe (in their homes and PE funds, banks, etc) but it is only “safe” based on a massive injection of liquidity. (More manipulation)
The reversal of the carry trade could turn into a margin call on the financial system with EVERY asset (most illiquid) tied to that very same financialization and leverage.
That leverage unwind will (if left unchecked) take down major players.
Ie - Massive manipulation of money incoming (liquidity) or deflationary spiral. Likely both (depending on timing and your country)
Good thing there is a protocol stack bounded by energy that is open, decentralized and secure.

With all the doom and gloom sentiment the past few days around Bitcoin, I decided to reflect on my own journey and where and when I fully bought into this paradigm shift of Bitcoin.

I went back and relistened this past week and there is so much amazing foreshadowing in much of what we are witnessing right now.

I’m on here largely because you and nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe have glowingly praised NOSTR in your podcasts. There’s so much potential here but it’s so hard to gain traction. And I suspect it’s about 100x more difficult for a pleb to interact meaningfully on NOSTR. I’ve been persistently on here almost every day but I often feel like I’m shouting into the void.
It’s early, so I suspect it will get much better for you here, but like all social media, key part is building relationships and commenting/providing value to others. Please also add an LNURL so you can receive zaps.

Funny that you mention this and I agree. Asking some of their leadership how they have solved the problem as their budget increased by 10x over the last 10 years, (the problem is far worse) and then asking where they got their funding was the insight that they needed to realize broken money was the root and they were a cog in that wheel. Like you, many people want to make a difference and help but had no idea that their actions were at odds with what they wanted to see. That was the breakthrough, at least for some in org to look at it differently. Those people in org are now Bitcoin Maxi’s and we’ll see where it takes us/them. One person at a time!!

The cognitive dissonance is going to be something to watch as those thinking that they’re “helping” the world through a corrupt system, who think bitcoin is for criminals, come to terms with what is really happening.

The episode will be released on August 30th. After that, we'll take a week off before launching our new show (the worst-kept secret).
After 7 years, 860 podcasts, countless flights, and visiting about 40 countries, the time is right. Time is precious. I need to travel less and focus on Bedford, the football team, family and bringing to life everything we've discussed over the past 7 years.
I believe we're entering a new era where #bitcoin is a legitimate part of every conversation. Our new show will reflect this, so we’re building a studio in London and evolving the format where #bitcoin is the heartbeat not the headline.
