"We are grateful for the lifeline Bitcoin provides and look forward to embracing it in a new, democratic Venezuela. We envision Bitcoin as part of our national reserves, helping rebuild what the dictatorship stole. Before our gold reserves were plundered, Venezuela had wealthy financial reserves worldwide. We will restore those reserves and include Bitcoin as a key component. " María Corina Machado
Yes, there is Libbitcoin. It deserves more attention. The main developer is Eric Voskuil (not sure if he is here on nostr)
Time to climb a tree
There is apparently already a drivers cooperative in NYC with their own platform, but I don't think it is FOSS. https://drivers.coop/
Thanks for the thoughtful point—safety is absolutely crucial in any ride-sharing setup, and you're right that background checks are a common concern (Uber and Bolt do require them in many places, but they're not foolproof). In a decentralized Nostr-based app, we could lean on community-driven trust mechanisms like:
- Ratings and reviews from passengers to build driver reputations over time.
- Built-in panic buttons, emergency SOS contacts, and real-time location sharing for quick help.
- Local co-op endorsements, where drivers vouch for each other within trusted communities.
This keeps things peer-to-peer without central authority. Open to more ideas—what else would you add? #NostrRides
Nostr crew, tired of big ride-share corps skimming off drivers? Fresh from #BalticHoneybadger2025 in #Riga where frustrated taxi/Bolt drivers shared their gripes about high cuts (31%+!), here's a loose idea to float: An open-source app built on Nostr for truly decentralized ride-sharing. Totally decentralized—no corp overlords—just drivers forming local co-ops for peer-to-peer matching, real-time tracking, and payments via Bitcoin/Lightning (with fiat bridges @for newbies). No middlemen siphoning profits—modular design so locals can tweak it. Passengers get the same GPS convenience and maps, but the power stays with drivers. I'm not building this myself, but throwing it out there for anyone inspired—perfect for a hackathon collab or community pickup. Zap if it resonates, or reply with your take! #NostrRides #NostrDev #TaxiCoop #BuildOnNostr
Spanish it is! Before hearing him on a podcast, I thought Calle was all about that grassroots street vibe. My Spanish-speaking wife still insists on Kah-yeh, so in our house, he’ll always be that guy from the street!
Do it yourself! It is dead simple with the web installer.
I never had to show mine, when arriving by air. But that's 11 years ago, so no idea what the situation is today.
Last lobster of the season. Thanks to my 78 years old dad who is still going out there to catch them.
What about posting some of your art? That would be a good start.
Got it. Had to change to the Bitcoin store
Today Start9 Support begins migrating away from Telegram and onto a private, self-hosted Matrix. We will cease providing support on Telegram on November 30.
In order to gain access to this community, you will need the Redemption Code included with your server purchase, usually a sticker on the underside of the device. If you do not have a redemption code, for example DIY users, you can purchase one for $100 from our store. This code gets you lifetime membership to the server.
- YOUR REDEMPTION CODE CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE
- DO NOT SHARE IT WITH ANYONE
- IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR YOUR CODE, THEY ARE A SCAMMER
To join the new community, go to https://start9.me
I wish you had opted for SimpleX instead of Matrix. But anayway, I would like to purchase the support option for DIY users, but I get no pay with bitcoin option at checkout.
Amazing news, that you will be the next host of nostr:nprofile1qqsysux42q9py8j3sa2y50nwtsh7u8g2q0sms5rn7fldkugtzyxkyzqpzfmhxue69uhk7enxvd5xz6tw9ec82cspz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzxnhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehhyctwvajhq6tvdshxgetkq47nsg. Looking forward to continue listening.
Nice! I waited 3 months before trying mine last year, and then it was already good.
It's that time of the year. Cider and juice for the winter is secured.

I hope they make it through the hurrycane, but very scary that there is no server redundancy in other geographic locations. For a pool that is very vocal about the centralization issue in the mining industry, that is a bit surprising. Let's see what happens next. For the time being, I have redirected my miners.
Anyone knows what's going on with nostr:nprofile1qqsq9k04vahllseell55m74n3047y88pzlr0z5yany32st29fapqmgsppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qgawaehxw309ahx7um5wghxy6t5vdhkjmn9wgh8xmmrd9skctc87ckyu Pool? Pool and web page has been down for the last 6-7 hours.
#asknostr
Currently webpage and pool is down. Pool status is showing as dead on all my miners. I hope something amazing is going to happen when it comes online again.
When, and how will they implement lightning in the Proton wallet? Self custodial lightning is difficult. Could the Muun wallet approach with submarine swaps to onchain bean hybrude/ intermediate solution? I tried the Proton wallet and it works great for on-chain, but the lack of lightning makes it useless for me. Proton Wallet is something I would like to use for small and medium size transaction to other Proton users, and on-chain is not the best for that. For savings I use other wallets with cold storage capabilities. Proton Wallet has great potential, but is missing something important.
Make an aggressive AI powered Nostr2twitter/FB etc. reply bot that figures what a typical Nostr response would be to every post
The Oslo Freedom Forum is held in Norway, which is not a EU member state.
That's exactly the problem. Too much concentration right now, too few real alternatives on the lightning wallet scene.
Sounds like you live in a McCarthyist parallel universe.
Pura vida. Little can compete with waking up in the forest and have breakfast with freshly picked mushrooms.
