"According to Brown University’s Costs of War project, more journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war began on October 7, 2023, than in the US Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, the wars in the former Yugoslavia and the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan – combined."
"The order to assassinate Anas Al Sharif, one of Gaza’s bravest journalists, and his colleagues, is a desperate attempt to silence the voices exposing the impending seizure and occupation of Gaza."

"Medical sources told Al Jazeera that Israeli attacks killed at least 71 people across Gaza on Saturday, including 42 desperately seeking aid.
"The Ministry of Health in Gaza also said that hospitals have recorded five more deaths due to hunger caused by the Israeli blockade of the enclave, bringing the total death toll from malnutrition to 127 since the war began."

Last night, my partner, who faces obstacles I do not to life in this country, told me she wanted to go to the local No Kings protest today to get past the fear she has been carrying.
So we went, with the little one in tow. I imagine the organizers would proclaim it a success with hundreds upon hundreds turning up. It left me feeling empty. (I didn't even have time to gather propaganda to hand out.) After about twenty minutes, my partner says to me, "I'm ready to go. I think I agree more and more with you and your friends. This isn't for me."
But at least she went. And at least our two year old made his first protest sign. Which is awesome and, I would argue, contains more coherence than the day's events.

"Hundreds of people marched this Saturday in the Mexican capital to demonstrate their rejection of US President Donald Trump's immigration policy, alongside the ‘No Kings’ protests being held in the US against the Republican leader's aggressive raids to detain migrants."

Apparently there is an anarchist book fair in LA next weekend. What is odd is that I am an actively involved anarchist near LA and have heard nothing about this until today, just by chance.
I say this not because I feel left out, but because it seems like there is a fundamental flaw in how we communicate with one another if we're not able to reach comrades within a small geographical area with local news, events, and action info.
One proposal is that only using Instagram to organize is to do it very, very wrong. Why rely on their infrastructure to build our movements?
"Students for Justice in Palestine was notified Thursday of an 'indefinite revocation' of its status as a registered student group and another chapter, Graduate Students for Justice in Palestine, was banned for four years."

"The aid industry, in effect, inherited colonialism’s 'civilising mission'. Its do-gooder image papers over the extractive nature of the international system and attempts to ameliorate its worst excesses without actually challenging the system. If anything, the two are in a symbiotic relationship. The aid industry legitimises extractive global trade and governance systems, which in turn produce the outcomes that legitimise the existence of the aid agencies."

"On July 29, the Gaza-based Ministry of Education announced that 39,000 high school students from the Gaza Strip did not take the Tawjihi exam this year, with 10,000 of them killed alongside 400 school teachers.
"The Government Media Office said that since the beginning of the war on Gaza, the Israeli army had completely destroyed 125 schools and universities and partially destroyed 336 schools and universities.
"The assault on education is mirrored in the genocidal onslaught on all other sectors that make society in Gaza function, from healthcare to food systems to waste management facilities. But one of the most insidious parts of targeting the educational sector is that it aims to erase children’s future."

The autonomous Indigenous community of Santa María Ostula is on alert after a judge ordered the eviction of 700 hectares of land in Xayakalan, which the community reclaimed from organized crime in 2009.
"If this eviction were to be carried out, around 700 hectares of Xayakalan would be affected, where today families live, there is a school and various products are grown, where today there is peace and a dignified life."
