Great! I'll try to be there. Family is pulling me in all directions when I am here, but maybe I can make them come as well.
Yes, there is an android app, but not on the play store. You have to install the apk from the github page. But Robosats works fine in the Tor browser as well, so no need to get the app. I have used it regularly for about a year without issues. Here is the link in case you want to tlry the app: https://github.com/RoboSats/robosats
Thank you for the update. Looking at the BTC map, not many places accepts BTC in PR. Orange pilling Puertoricans seems difficult. I have tried to talk to my sister in law who used to sell in the San Juan market her self, and who is connected to some of the activist communities here. It seems like Bitcoin is lumpted together with crypto, and associated with all the people from the US who came here to avoid paying tax at home, and who are seen as just another type of colonialists. And for me, as a white European, I should probably just shut up, and not try to tell people what is best for them. All respect to the work you are doing. I wish you all luck.
This is awesome. Great achievement. I hope this can inspire others. Just a short note from my Puertorican wife: Please don't count PR and USA as one country. Puerto Rico is unfortunately still a colony, but deserves to be seen its own right. Keep running with Bitcoin, for freedom, against imperialsim, everywhere!
There are trade offs with all wallets, but Phoenix Wallet seems to have found a good balance. It is self custodial, so you will have to suck up the initial channel opening fee (open a large channel first time to avoid new channel openings later). I recently researched the Android wallet landscape when I transitioned my 9 years old daughter away from WOS, and ended up with Phoneix as the best for her. You should watch BTCSessions video on Phoneix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbtAmevYpdM
Personally I use Zeus wallet connected to my own node. Zeus can also be used without your own full node, but I haven't tried that out.

So we partially used this (https://blog.btcpayserver.org/case-study-technical-prism-sideshift/ ) nostr:npub155m2k8ml8sqn8w4dhh689vdv0t2twa8dgvkpnzfggxf4wfughjsq2cdcvg guide to setup a few merchants at the Old San Juan’s Farmers Market. We didn’t use the L-BTC / Sideshift part so we are only hosting stores at our BTCPay server and setting them up with nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl and #SpecterDIY watch-only for L1 and nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm
#LNHub for ⚡️.
Seems like a tolerable middle ground.
Both merchants also have web presence at :
We enabled BTCPay’s WooCommerce Plug-in for both stores.
Some great products from both. We’re planning to expand this setup to interested merchants at the same farmers’ market. Eventually expanding to others.

Felicidades! Great to see new merchants onboarded. I missed the market, but maybe I will make it next Saturday. Is there an overview somewhere of merchants, farmers etc. where you can pay with lightning in PR? Currently visiting my Puerto Rican family in-law for the hollidays.
Sharing my, and others', response to Lyn's question

For those who find the book too long.
Based on memory these are my main takeaways:
- Debunking with empiricall evidence the presumption held by most economists, that money evolved out of barter. Barter is for strangers and enemies. In communities/tribes credit/ledger-based systems was the norm.
- The strong role debt played in the brutality of colonizing America, and facilitating the slave trade among tribal leaders in Africa.
Adam Smith`s “debt” to Islamic thinkers
- The 1971 and onwards explanation of the transition to the petro-dollar system.
I find it strange that an anarchist leaning thinker like Graeber subscribes to the idea that only state (or sovereign) money can work in the long run. As I remember, he claims that attempts at private money always fails. At the same time he describes how coins (and credit systems like the tally sticks) continued to exist for hundreds of years after the empire who coined them ceased to exist.
Nevertheless, one of the most eye-opening books I have read. All books and thinkers should be a starting point for your own thinking, not a source of truth to subscribe to.
If someone finds the length of the book a bit daunting, I can recommend an audio short version Graeber made for the BBC. It`s also easy to get lost in all the historical examples in the book, so this mini-series gives you the overall picture, and you can choose to dig deeper on what you find interesting.
Missing Norwegian Kroner (NOK). Unless it is already in the latest release

NGL did not expect Bitcoin to pump after two of its biggest fiat on ramps were kneecapped
Surprising and impressive

No victory laps yet! If they went to war on Bitcoin, this isn't over yet.
Prepare for a long battle. Be humble, but determined.
Agree, and when you stack sats, try to use P2P services like Robosats instead of centralized exchanges. This is what bitcoin was invented for, person-to-person.
Why are more people not using Robosats, or similar, to buy and sell bitcoin? The intention of bitcoin was P2P money, right? You avoid exchanges, KYC etc. It settles instantaneously over lightning. Yes, you pay a small premium, 2-3% if you are not in a great hurry. https://learn.robosats.com/
Anyone else going through their bank accounts this weekend, making sure your funds in each bank are well withing the deposit protection limit? Well, of course, nothing can happen to the banks in this country, you might say? Maybe not, but better be on the safe side…
Thinking of all the backdoor meetings going on this weekend. Talking points being written to calm us down, make us all think everything is okay, it's all under control, trust us...
Kids makes you the best (and occasionally the worst) version of your self.
So, bitcoin rave in Bergen for those of you who are around.
You could try this place in Haugesund, but not sure if it is an actual coffee place or just an online shop now. Anyone here who knows?
How do you teach your kids bitcoin? I am trying out this with my 8yrs old daughter: I`ll pay her sats one-to-one for points she gets from doing household tasks registered in the Choreful app (kids tasks + I added adult tasks as well). I promised to exchange (buy back) the sats for cash when she wants. Just praying there is no bull market anytime soon... Now my wife wants the same deal, but she is going to ruin me, so I am trying to talk my self out of it.
This is the choreful app:
Which wallet to choose for a child? I am thinking of just doing Muun or Wallet of Satoshi to make it simple and user friendly for a child. I`ll do the self custody part later.
Any other thoughts on how to do this?
Maybe npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx or npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 could make some kids tutorials for us?
