My brother and I used to stay awake Christmas Eve night and watch the clock on the TV guide channel until 3am. Feeling nostalgic this year. What is your most fond Christmas Eve memory? #merrychristmas

Imagine a nuclear family of 5 in the United States. Imagine they were based and well-nourished and loved each other wholeheartedly like a proper family should.

Does it make sense for each of the 3 kids to rush out of the parent’s home when they’re 18 and start paying at least $3,000/month to live alone in the modern world? 3 rent payments, 3 TVs, 3 power bills, 3 internet payments, 3 shower curtains, 3 doormats, on and on and on. 3k covers the bare minimum to get by too, not much able to accumulate wealth at that age and experience.

Or…

Would it make more sense for the progeny to stay with the parents, help them and help take care of the homestead, and allow the kids to start accumulating capital while they also start a trade / career / business and remain in a constructive and loving family environment? The later is clearly the better option.

I understand this wouldn’t work in every case and circumstance but it should be more normal and something parents strive to provide.

There is absolutely no way I would raise a family and not want them to stay with me as long as they wanted. I would buildout a righteous compound and encourage remaining a unit until the end. The isolationist norms of today ain’t right…

I love this take! I see this type family living as very natural. Unfortunately, the fiat babysitting complex that we call education indoctrinates kids. Kids that educate at home are around there parents like 70 more hours a week if you do the math! The parent child relationship is weak or broken by the time they reach 18. Ultimately, strong family units mean a weak government.

Now that I feel like my voice wont be censored, monetized, or alogorithmatized, I finally feel free and excited to engage on social media. Maybe for the first time in my life. Since I was young, I love the idea of social media but it it never felt like #nostr.

The stoney crevice was a world of its own. The rising sun was low near the horizon, and the brilliant sun reflected across the ocean and glossy stones atop the cliff, tying them together in a wash of white light. The forest green shrubs framing the exposed stones were like layered shadows reaching out over the rock. The distant low waves made the ocean look like wool. On the other side of the horizon were wispy, hazy, low clouds. So it was, the day began.

I've always had a great deal to say but have never mustered the courage to post on social media. I rationalized this by telling myself I was too humble, which is embarrassingly self-aggrandizing in hindsight. Nostr has helped me realize that it wasn't humility; it was an inability to subject my most vulnerable and valuable thoughts to a feudal platform where I might be censored, algorimatized, and commodified. It was an act of withdrawal and rebellion. On #Nostr, I feel free and find that I can speak freely. Im so thankful for everyone working to build this community. This is the internet I dreamed about as a child. I've resolved to post a lot more in 2025!

As bitcoiners become rich, they must remember what the rent seeking class have forgotten. Life's great treasures cannot be bought at all. True friends, pure love, peace of mind, a strong body, free time, the ability to savor something, being present. These are life's true luxuries.

The #btc/#nostr combo could significantly reduce the the younger generations anxiety. It did mine. I no longer compulsively think about the future. I just queitly live day-today, enjoy my family, stack sats, and avoid social media algorithm psychosis.

Indeed, algorithms are societal mind control.

I feel much less stressed out and angry since shutting down all of my prior social media accounts, other than #nostr.

I don’t miss them at all… not even a little bit.

Although unplugging from them (especially X) felt like breaking off a powerful addiction.

I am a father of 5 and wrote a fantasy bitcoin parable to begin teaching my children about fiat enslavement, bitcoin, and money. I genuinely believe that outside of my actual BTC stack, the greatest inheritance I will leave with my lineage is the knowledge and understanding of money.

I published this parable in a paperback and realized I had made a mistake. If I publish this book, it shouldn’t be through fiat channels. For better or worse, I’ve decided to publish this parable for free on Nostr. Nostr is a place that shares my values and is one of the most important projects in the world right now. I’m working on a screenplay and novel of this tale, which will have plenty of interesting surprises not included in these notes, so there is much more to come.

My long-term vision is to write a whole collection of parables to preserve the truths of money through stories, the same way our ancestors did.
