Shopping is the action of looking for something to buy. Not simply buying.
I will die on this hill no matter how unimportant this whole thing really is.

Shopping is the action of looking for a good price. You can shop around for a good golf club.
But you don't go to your favorite gold club and call it shopping just because you soent money.
Nobody goes to his favorite cofee shop every morning and say "i go shopping every morning".
That's not how people use the word shopping.
Your use if the word shopping = spending.
If i was to gonin a parc full of squirrel that charges 1$ to enter you'd call this shopping.
