chronicling the products layered upon the bitcoin protocol. dying on the crypto(graphy)-abolitionism hill.

We need more opinionated Bitcoin products like TwentyTwo's Portal.

Don't overwhelm users with a million choices on how to use your product.

Enabling people to do everything diminishes the UX for everyone.

Most products should guide their users, not the other way around.

It's curious to see how hardware tradeoffs affect UX.

nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n's Jade has one select button and a jog wheel, leading them to place the delete key ⌫ in an unusual (but surprisingly intuitive) spot in the recovery flow ↓

Would you trust a wallet that DOESN'T allow you to back up your seed phrase? There are no mnemonics on Bitkey, the wallet made by nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m's team πŸ‘‡

Forget the $60k, the US dollar is close to an All-Time Low! Now β‚Ώ1661 can buy $1. It's getting early in Moscow! πŸŒ…

everyone is fixated on the Number Going Up, but it's more fun to watch this Number Go Down πŸ‘‡

nostr:npub1h493d0qgwhu95s82zd9sxrt3ckn3ttgvaf04z02neckadxw5fkvqte4cwz has just launched its Fedimint federation in partnership with nostr:npub1uq70uqgas9pyhds2zt57kr9se8rg3s68ztphjnq82ts8rzeknmeql7u0c2. Pretty cool!

I especially like the feature that allows canceling payments sent to federation members.

You can also join the federation on nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg!

After the federation dissolves at the end of nostr:npub1h493d0qgwhu95s82zd9sxrt3ckn3ttgvaf04z02neckadxw5fkvqte4cwz, you can tap πŸ”€ to melt your ecash and go self-custodial (as long as you have a minimum of β‚Ώ100 000).

hey nostr:npub1mhcr4j594hsrnen594d7700n2t03n8gdx83zhxzculk6sh9nhwlq7uc226, I'm loving my mattcrv@npub.cash, congrats!

is there a way I could set up to receive the ecash notes via DM? Or at least get notified via DM when there are notes to be claimed?

yeah, paying customs duty sucks.

the UX feels very polished. i'd feel comfortable gifting it to family members without worrying that they'll make a mistake and accidentally lose their BTC.

but I'm not a fan of the fact that 2/3 of the keys are hot. the hacker who manages to breach Block's HSM could also release a malicious app update

Are there other exchanges doing this?

Xapo charges a fee for deposits of less than 0.0007 BTC (~$36).

That's reasonable considering how expensive it is for them to consolidate those UTinyXOs.

Do you agree with nostr:npub1lh273a4wpkup00stw8dzqjvvrqrfdrv2v3v4t8pynuezlfe5vjnsnaa9nk that APIs to submit out-of-band transactions directly to pools are an attack?

If yes, you have 2 options:

1. Run Libre Relay to propagate non-std txs and render Marathon's Slipstream obsolete.

2. Try to change consensus.

Complaining will only expose your lack of understanding of the incentives at play.

Bitcoin is NOT for everyone.

It's only for those who can afford on-chain fees.

Many criticize nostr:npub18m4nmc2wchzgcmzvnluqjzxyrpshp64mwje2vuz60kulny3v6c0qtgcl2x' decision to promote UMA instead of "an off-the-shelf

LNURL implementation with an LUD-18-based compliance and LUD-21".

I think it’s perfectly logical.

Lightspark is targeting VASPs that want to provide a cheap, compliant and instant FX solution to their users.

Those institutions don't care if what's under the hood is LNURL or something else.

If they cared, they'd have implemented LNURL already β€” the building blocks have been around for years.

dang, nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 has some fierce competition for ranking in the app stores

The biggest threat that will attract regulatory scrutiny to Bitcoin isn't covenants, Taproot Assets, Lightspark's UMA, or any of Bitcoin Twitter's villain of the week. It's adoption. More bitcoiners, more regulators' eyeballs. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
