What is fascinating about this case is that the UK wants to control sites in the US that have no commercial operations in the UK. Perhaps the sites could block IP addresses from the UK. But the UK could simply block foreign sites that they don't want like many other countries that don't like foreign sites.
There’s a debate raging over in the Bluesky world about whether or not infrastructure providers on ATprotocol should be neutral carriers or if people running things like PDS servers should be able to choose who they host.
It’s an interesting read and worth thinking about. From a Nostr perspective it’s like arguing for a custodial system then being upset at the power dynamics that exist because of that.
I’m curious what folks think. I think the poster kicked a hornets nest, not understanding how communities of users react to being told what they should or shouldn’t do with their own servers.
Thoughts?

In the Nostr world, I think relay providers should be able to pick and choose what they relay, and also there should be some type of independent scoring/rating mechanism so there's transparency.
Or even something as simple as the client reminds you to make a scheduled payment
We had to do this to for processing rss feeds and posting them to nostr. Really don't like it but no alternative other than making the user go through a bunch of drafts and sign them from client.
Also would be interesting to choose ordering, and then any events not listed would then go below as a reverse chron. Effectively adds "featured post" or "highlighted posts" to a Nostr npub.
It's launch day!!! Damus is now available on all platforms with Android ready to download! Thanks to everyone who has contributed, tested, and waited patiently for this release. We can't wait to hear what you think! https://damus.io/android/
Congrats!
With Nostr, Jack is well ahead of what Elon and Zuck have learned about censorship
Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement that he is dropping censorship in the U.S. for Facebook and Instagram was accompanied by a comment that he is going to work with the U.S. government to encourage other countries to not censor content. Upon acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk dropped censorship and soon learned that government mandates from across the world censor content.
