These guys and many others look the other way because they’re on the same side as Trump in the ridiculous culture wars of the right.

Trump has NO master plan. He has always demonstrated that he is a short term thinker that blows with the political winds. In fact, the second he saw the stock market crashing in reaction to his tariffs he looked for an exit and paused everything. He pretended to extract concessions from Canada and Mexico on border issues (announcing things they were already doing as if they were new) in order to back away from his tariffs.
