Five years of no flying

5 years ago, I realised that my #academic travels were emitting way too much #greenhouse #gas #GHG (up to 20 t #CO2 / yr) and hence that my #professional activity was not #sustainable. I thus decided to completely ban air #travel (#plane) and travel mainly by #train within #Europe.

5 years later (i.e. now), my professional travels' #carbonfootprint dropped by **a factor 50**, without impacting my #publication records (compared to 2017 - 2019).

perso, je suis confiant. ca va faire mal, tres mal même, mais quand on aura majoritairement allumé l’instinct de protection, on fera des choses radicales. J’imagine qu’a un moment, ca se passera pas du tout bien pour une partie de la population qui continuera a s’en moquer.

I have tested #BlueSky for the past few weeks, for curiosity.

It's a bit like #X but you need an invitation code to join. A kind a private club.

I don't have many followers / people to follow, so it's a bit dead. Some folks are obviously cross-posting from X so there is some activity there, but quite limited.

#fediverse is still by far the best social network, no doubt !
