**RT @tabconf:**
TABconf will also have discussion on this. Early September is another good time to learn in person. :)

**Response to @fiatjaf:**
\- Apparently Lightning developers have started to realize it is not a good idea to close a channel in order to redeem a trimmed HTLC -- but it's not clear what they must do instead
\- Simplicity trumps everything
\- Lightning will rely more and more on reputation and game theory

The latest @ChaincodeLabs (https://nitter.moomoo.me/ChaincodeLabs) podcast episode with @rusty\_twit (https://nitter.moomoo.me/rusty_twit) is pretty good. Some things I took from it:
\- Rusty wants anyprevout.xyz (https://anyprevout.xyz) and hopes that will happen as soon as possible, but he doesn't have a concrete plan for activation
\- Lightning is currently overcomplicated

**RT @Truth_in_Number:**
I saw a post today saying myocarditis deaths were blowing up in the US.
Myocarditis is a very rare cause of death in the US. 2019, it accounted for 0.02% of all deaths in US.
In 2020 myocarditis death rate jumped 9.9%
DROPPED 10.3% in 2021
Dropped 8% in 2022

If we activate Drivechain and it works we can probably reduce the blocksize to 300kb and be happy forever.

**RT @super_testnet:**
These things about bitcoin annoy me a bit: fees are often so high that LN is the only halfway decent option. But LN is not as reliable as bitcoin, transactions fail too often. I \*think\* drivechains would be (1) reliable like bitcoin (2) low fee like LN (3) low chance of theft.

Here's a link to a debate with me and about Drivechains from a year ago @Truthcoin (https://nitter.moomoo.me/Truthcoin) (starts at 3:05:)
I don't remember how comprehensive it is with arguments, but it's at least a chance to hear two people attempting to argue in good faith.
Did I win?

**RT @Truthcoin:**
Bip300 is inevitable, btw
It is the only L2 that:
\\* pays miners +
\\* that you can directly onboard to.
So it will activate via MASF, eventually.
ARK , LN , Federated Chains -- these don't pay miners. No one will pay $10 (or $20) to join those. ARK and LN stop working at that…

I bought a domain on namecheap.com (https://namecheap.com). They had two payment options for Bitcoin: Bitpay and BTCPay. For BTCPay they only accepted onchain transactions, but with Bitpay they accepted Lightning.
Guess who won: self-hosted or custodial solution?

The same threats that DC could pose already exist. No new threats are added... Unless of course you're afraid that DC bootstraps things that are better than bitcoin (3/3)

**RT @johndavies24:**
Annoyingly, you arent acknowledging that these centralization forces already exist w/o benefiting BTC (DC would benefit BTC). Considering all non-BTC uses of blockspace (side chains, pegs/wBTC, MM, other chains checkpointing, timestamps, proof of publication, etc)...(2/3)

**RT @johndavies24:**
This piece wasnt as bad as I expected. I think you paid some lip service to the benefits. You basically said that there could be ways of doing it w/o a SF (bip118), that DC could add meaningless proofs, & the common "don't add another force to miner centralization"... (1/3)

Isolation is key for security. If you build a Lightning-enabled app, you don't want to grant it access to all funds on your node.
Use @LNbits (https://nitter.moomoo.me/lnbits) as an intermediate layer for security to give your app its own wallet. Whatever could go wrong with it, only its own wallet is at risk.
