Entrepreneurship is hard, and taking the dive over the past 2 years I have a much greater appreciation for those who try to build new things.

It’s much easier to have hot takes on the sidelines and judge others than to get your hands dirty and try to do hard things for yourself. Try doing hard things, it gives you a greater perspective in how the world works.

Isn't it marvelous that the deterministic nature of Bitcoin can let a companion app verify a hardware wallet is following the protocol in a non-leaking way? I find this unbelievable and would want that for my hardware wallet to sleep sound at night, knowing that nobody can exfiltrate keys. No supplier. No library provider. No engineer around me. Not even with a gun to their head they could succeed.

They bothered to implement anti-exfil (provably random nonces). This means that a malicious firmware or even malicious hardware wallet can’t steal your coin! For every other hardware wallet, you’re blindly trusting Amazon/UPS/five factories in China/the webserver you got the firmware from/etc/etc. The idea that none of these parties have anyone working there who might want to go steal people’s coin is absurd, frankly.
