From AOC, a good comment on bluesky tonight:

Law students from multiple law schools have put their names to a letter in which they refuse to work for firms giving in to Trump on DEI. They will only work for firms that stand up to Trump regime in specific ways. I urge you to read the letter. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10POW8J0MVRSNUvMm8zBpyYLW0d7VWlGxd50Nw-Ql9SI/edit?usp=drivesdk

I applaud the courage and integrity of these students. I’m especially proud of the signers who I taught. #LawFedi 1/2

This Biden address will go down in history.

Another person who fully deserves his #indictment in #FultonCounty is #JeffreyClark, darling of the Republican legal ecosystem. Background on Clark here, gift link: https://wapo.st/3OY2xdC #FaniWillis #Georgia

Reading the #FultonCounty #indictment has left me feeling like I need a shower.

It is easy to lapse into just nodding along with the District Court’s finding. After all, #Trump has always and forever been playing games with judicial proceedings. But this really is striking: the District Court and the DC Circuit Court have both determined that he could not be trusted not to actively meddle with an ongoing criminal investigation by messing with evidence, menacing witnesses, telling his cronies about the nature of the investigation. #LawFedi 6/

… Trump might well destroy or otherwise tamper with evidence or intimidate potential witnesses or notify his confederates in criminal behavior. In other words, the District Court thought there was a serious possibility that Trump would illegally interfere with the #J6 grand jury investigation. 5/

To survive strict scrutiny, the non-disclosure order had to serve a compelling government interest that could not have been served another way, and it had to be narrowly tailored so as to serve that interest. The interests the government asserted were in preserving and maintaining the integrity and secrecy of the #J6 investigation. Now, here’s the striking bit…. 3/

Trump’s plans to convert the Department of Justice to a personal revenge mechanism are the logical outcome of the “unitary executive theory” advanced by figures on the right including Bill Barr and Jeffrey Clark. Every once in a while I find myself in a state of disbelief at the state of the Republican Party in the U.S. We are no longer a two-party democracy. We have one major party and a cultish criminal organization.
