Thanks to #Nostr I discovered The Fourth Turning. Always felt there was a cycle in history but they come with evidence and support my 2030 turning point year.

Thesis: History is a cycle of 80 years, with four archetypes of generations each of 20 years, living through the seasons of this cycle. This is a self fulfilling prophecy because history creates generations and generations create history.

Generation types:

1. Prophets (idealistic and great leaders)

2. Nomads (individualistic and hard working)

3. Heros (civic, teamwork, hubris, overachievers) these are the Millennials

4. Artist (a silent generation, compassionate and accepting, but rebellious)

The seasons:

1. First Turning: Spring after a Crisis, unity and optimism

2. Second Turning: Summer - Awakening, prosperity rises

3. Third Turning: Autumn - Unraveling, society weakens

4. Fourth Turning: Winter - Crisis, disruption of society, collapse and beginning of rebuilding.

As per the time cycle The Third Turning the unraveling started roundabout 2005 (ok 2008, give them a break they predicted this in the 80s) and peak will be in the 2020s. Well hello Covid, Russian-Ukrainian War, mass migrations, great devaluation of money through inflation. We are right on mark.

By 2030 the crisis will be over and the new order will be in place. We are expecting a good Fourth Turning with the Prophets as leaders and the Hero generation as the main engine in society, with AI, with new tech, with space travel and yes #Bitcoin. This will send us to an extraordinary time in human history, a positive one.

IMO,

every 500 years or so, something occurs which resets global power structures.

every 100 years or so, there is repeating topical timeline cycle which restarts.

every 70 years or so, political ideas recycle.

every 30 years or so, cultural ideas recycle

And every once in a great while, like every 2000 years or so, all these cycles reset at the same time.

which is, where i believe we are.

i have no proof, or reproducible evidence of this, and im just a dude who lives in a tiny house under an Alder tree forest. so discount at your leisure. but it seems about right to me.

I'm not swinging steel tonight. I screwed up pretty badly at work and sucked up a whole lot of nasty fumes today and I'm just not gonna force myself to swing the kettlebell today. I did walk, and that helped to get some fresh air, but I'm feeling kinda wretched right now.

(Yes, I know. Dumb. I forgot that I needed to order a new respirator. My work only provides dust masks. Those are useless for welding fumes. Yes, I could push the issue, but it is ultimately my responsibility.)

I'm applying for a loan to buy my first house.

After they went line by line through my bank account, they sent me an e-mail and said "We need you to provide some more information on these transactions..."

Just the fact that occurs was enough to immediately stress me out, because my view is totally different on these kind of things now after I have been spending more time studying economics and Bitcoin this year. Then I looked down at the short list and saw this among the items:

"River Financial"

I immediately started overthinking, all kinds of stuff like how they're going to deny my loan just because I tell them I bought some Bitcoin, how there's still a massive stigma against it from most of society, how it's associated with criminal activity in most peoples minds (and I'd be willing to bet this is even more true for a lender). But then I realized, I can provide proof that I've never spent any of it because of the blockchain.

I don't know how this is going to go for me, how much they actually will make a big deal of this, but I did feel much more relieved knowing the proof is right there for all to see and check on their own. At least in my mind that seems like it would mitigate the likelihood of them viewing that single purchase as a lending risk. Also it was a pretty small one-time purchase.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'd be interested to hear about it if so.
