I vividly remember my mom driving through huge puddles and watching splash from the tires. We were out in the rain a lot too. I'm having such a hard time remembering specific rainy day activities.

I'm guessing lots of books and video games? I read so much as a kid.

When my husband proposed a similar plan, I told him no way, I don't want to make it harder on me earlier than I need to. I'll have care for all three kids on my own when you're back to work no matter what.

I've always been the build wings on the way off the cliff type person and he's the meticulous planner.

I had some coffee and went to bed at 11:57 after a quick proxy countdown smooch with H. Ahh, parenthood.

Happy New Year 🥳

it is raining lions and wolves over here.

what rainy day activities did you enjoy from your youth? #asknostr

I'm wondering if we'll see this reverse as fathers are more involved in raising children than ever before.

why not hot fingering action?

having had a singleton and then twins, I wouldn't say it's ten times harder. I think a lot of the difficulty comes from whether it's your first baby and not so much that there's two. Having twins as your first babies is extra hard mode.

When it comes to soothing two babies at once, I see if one can be bounced in the bouncer. Still trapped because I'm holding one and bouncing once but at least I have one hand free to dick around on my phone. When we need to carry two babies at once, it usually isn't for a long time so I'll carry them in my arms or wear them in the twin carrier. Even though the carrier means I'm handsfree, the bulkiness of wearing two babies makes it hard to do much else.

During the day, we try to sync their feeds and naps as much as possible. Sometimes they will both sleep at the same time which would be prime adult nap time but we have our first born who is on one nap a day so very rarely do all three nap simultaneously. At night, I take care of them solo and prefer to have them a little staggered. As they got bigger they feed more easily and are soothed back to sleep easily. On a good night, I'll get two 2 hr stretches of sleep and then when my husband swaps with me in the morning, I get a 3 hrs stretch uninterrupted. It is getting a little better every day as they get bigger.

hope all is well with you and yours ❤️

I love this game! playing through right now. havent rolled the credits yet

"taro seemed really hungry since it's so close to dinnertime. he kept asking for cookies so I gave him one."

real solid logic there grandma 😑

i read a couple other people's patterns and notes to get a general idea of construction and then did my own thing.

I cast on the number of stitches for my foot circumference. rounded down to the closest multiple of four. knit 2x2 rib for about 2 inches and then knit the 2x2 spiral rib. the spiral shifts one stitch to the right or left every 6 rows.

for the toe, I did the same kind of decrease you'd do at the top of a hat.

I hope that helps!

remember the yarn that was too thick for mitts? I'm making a pair of spiral socks instead! they're gonna be so cozy 🥰

when I learned about this unique sock construction, I had to give it a try. it uses spiral ribbing to hug the heel and can be put on in any direction so it wears evenly.

haven't decided on the exact model yet but a flat bed mid gauge machine with a ribber.

it's kinda crazy to think that I'm 1 million sats away from my dream knitting machine. Selling my handmade socks and hats over the last few years have slowly been getting me there.

maybe in the near future, I'll be able to get back to work. About 28 more pairs of socks!

knitting a hat under cover of night as babes sleep in their beds. shh 🤫

it's really nice to be knitting again. I'm working on a couple sample pieces for the next evolution of karo's knits on nostr that will be available for purchase.

From Bitcoin and Nostr themed beanie hats to star blankets to wool socks, I keep changing what I offer because life keeps changing. The demands for my time as a mother are at an all time high right now but I'm finding small pockets of rest where I'm eager to stack some sats with my knitting skills.

I don't have a complete picture of what's next but I do know that it will be custom fit, made to order. Knitting for inventory didn't really work out as I still have quite a few Bitcoin beanies that never got traction. I also know that I'll only be working with 100% wool (and/or other natural fibers)

There are a few question marks that I need to think and plan out but I'll get to those, eventually.

Thanks for reading this far and for all the support you guys have shown me 💜

kinda fun to see you bring up this topic every so once in a while over the last 3 years. so many new faces show up in the replies.

I started binging vocal coaches reacting to scenes/songs in movies. This one is really good, I appreciate she focuses on the technique instead of production of the song, although learning about the finesse of production is also very useful.

People don't realize how difficult singing is though, one thing is "sing nicely" for fun and completely different is working technique, emotion and overall strategy while tackling song that will really light up listener's heart. But once you catch how it's done and train techniques so you use them fluently, singing "for fun" gets incredibly elevated, just like playing an instrument well. #singstr #musicstr #kpopdemonhunters #singing

I love this song so much 😭

so true!

when you get a lemon

tap, rack, bang and go again

til you get it right

a little pewpew themed haiku for you ❤️

today I saw a video of someone preparing wool fiber on a carder, spinning the yarn and weaving a scarf. then listed the scarf for sale at $450. it was shown as sold out.

that gives me confidence to do the things that I want to do.

I'm glad mine does not look like this. mine is mostly yarn related 😅

took the babies out for a picnic today. it's good to get some fresh air and sunshine.

I thought I'd spend less time on nostr when the babies came but I totally forgot how much time I spend nursing and being nap trapped. Thanks for keeping me entertained.

This seems like a good opportunity to do an #introductions since I never did a proper nostr introduction so here I am. I’m Carson and I joined nostr about 2 years ago when I saw Jack Dorsey tweet his npub. As I learned about nostr, I got excited because it actually fixes the issue of censorship, and serves as a protocol engineered for free speech. I'd been mostly off social media for a few years (more because It's easy to waste time on and I’m worried about how it’ll affect my brain down the line). Nostr introduced me to bitcoin, and though I haven’t read as deep as I’d like into it yet, it seems to be pretty cool.

I am in my senior year of college. I will be graduating with a BS in Materials Science and Engineering in a few short months. I chose this path because of the interest in nanomaterials (carbon nanotubes, more specifically) I developed in high school. While in school, I got a job working in a nanomaterials research lab, where I became associate manager (until I quit today!).

Through working in research for nearly four years and reading research for five years, I have come to think research and research publishing could benefit from change. It is in my goals this year to learn to code and build what I see as the solution to the issues with research, and share that here with y’all.

One of my main goals at the moment is to find a job for when I graduate. I’m really interested in moving to the Austin or Houston areas. However, I recognize that I am at the mercy of life and the opportunities I encounter. I am entrepreneurial, fast learning, and motivated to work hard, given the right environment.

I love talking to and learning from people, biking, reading, wristwatches, cars and motorcycles (and fixing them). There’s lots more to me that I’ll try to share over time.

I haven't engaged a ton with the community on here, but I've followed some of y’all for a long time, and am happy to be a witness to the awesomeness here. Here’s to getting to know you all better and getting more involved this year! nostr:note19nfem7rpkcgc0427t87lg3qej7nffpu96tnhaqm9nkygmq6qyxfqpde9ez

now this is an #introduction!

anyone got a job for a college graduate in materials engineering and/or carbon nanotubes?

fun fact, I once pursued a degree in materials engineering because of nano material research at the time. Unfortunately, after failing requisite calculus classes multiple times, I decided that I was not meant to be an engineer like my father.

I ended up getting a degree in business instead and later another degree in fashion design. Let me tell you, life takes you in wild directions. I write to you now as my third baby lays up on my chest because if he doesn't he will throw up all his milk.
