It might sound like heresy to say this here — and maybe I’ll get metaphorically stoned for it — but I have to raise the question:
How can we blindly trust Bitcoin with quantum computers already knocking on the door?
Yes, I know many argue for the resilience of the protocol and say “we’re still far from that point.” But the progress in quantum technologies over the past few months is exceeding expectations. We already have companies running functional proofs-of-concept with over a thousand qubits, and others announcing quantum clusters by the end of the year. This is no longer science fiction.
Isn’t it time we start having serious discussions about post-quantum cryptography at the core of Bitcoin?
