building on nostr

something must have gone wrong in the tagging. make sure not to edit the tagged text or the tag will be removed

for this might be easier to just paste in the npub keys (without @) and astral should parse it automatically

decentralized github. weve already seen github be eager to censor.

i'm a bit of a git noob but I would think its possible to do something more integrated. git is just pulling and pushing data after all.

i really want to see git implemented over nostr

yep, no one client owns your profile. its saved on the relays. any client you log into will load your same profile.

on astral you don't need the @ sign. just paste in the npub pubkey (or note id)

sorry about this. my next todo is use EOSE to be more efficient. need to upgrade to latest nostr-tools.

the @ mention handler in astral does use nip05. and actually only matches on nip05 and not display name if you have nip05 which I want to change.

might be a delay? very weird. did you see any errors in t he console? I do see that note on multiple relays now.

actually think I might get rid of bottom menu on mobile and just have an expandable button instead. you think that would be better?

hmm bc the new post button is so close to the existing post's reply button? so you hit new post instead of reply?

ah yeah I don't want to auto shorten if people want it displayed differently. only if they are exactly the same I can kinda be sure the user is ok with shortening it (like for mine)

this issue should be fixed now.

hmm are you saying that when you enter a nip05 with capital letters it lowercases it?

yes i think pow relays will be a thing (i believe #[4] is waiting for a client with POW to implement one). pow relay will likely have less spam. but also pow for feed filtering.

having client handling media is exactly what I want to avoid as I feel that it is a centralizing factor. I have been building a selfhosted media server that authenticates by nostr credentials and theoretically can integrate with any client. it also can be stood up as a 3rd party service to astral (or any client). this would also allow you to switch media hosting providers without having to switch clients. but unfortunately haven't had time to work on this lately.

other interesting aspects of this media server are content signing (file name will be hash of content, so if the file served is later changed anyone can tell) and perhaps torrenting and easy re-seeding of media.

lots of ideas, not enough time

nope but you can customize your font in settings.

thanks for understanding even if you may not fully agree! yeah I hope to not have to go the custodial route. def need to look into alby integration. someone had also mentioned money socket protocol that looks intriguing. #[5]
