Anti-DEI is white supremacy. Black lives matter. LGBT+ rights are human rights. Healthcare, security, a decent income, and housing with dignity are human rights. Abortion is healthcare. Science is our best hope as a species. Kindness and empathy are the noblest of human traits. No alt-text = no repost. I block assholes and bigots. Are you still on #Spotify?

Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek has raised €600M for his new startup, which is developing AI TECH FOR WAR. Ek still owns 9% of Spotify, but has 37% voting control. His net worth went from $2.5B to $10B in the last two years alone, on the back of paying musicians a pittance in royalties.

And don’t forget:

• Spotify spent $250M of your subscription dollars to invite Joe Rogan to spew his disinformation on their platform.

• They’re still trying to embrace and extinguish Podcasts.

• They’re developing in-house, AI-generated “music” so users will play them (royalty-free) instead of music created by humans (who demand royalty).

And now, he’s using his wealth, created by your subscriptions, to fund tech that will use AI to literally murder humans in war.

Stop funding him. Quit Spotify now.

I’m regularly getting follow requests from mostr dot pub, but the accounts I’m getting requests from always look empty or at least very sparse. What is going on? I know mostr dot pub is some kind of Nostr node, but who/what are behind these follow requests?

Does someone have an explainer on why the earthquake today was centered in #Myanmar, but yet struck #Bangkok so hard, over a thousand miles away?

Good marketing, but I don’t trust Jay Graber in the least.

New #Tesla Model Y updates are slated to start delivery in March. You can easily spot these new units because they will have an always-on light bar across the front, just like the Cybertruck. At night, you can spot them by the red light bar across the back (it’ll be harder).

You may have reservations about hating on people who own Teslas, because they might have bought them not knowing that a Nazi owns the factory. But buyers of these new models have no excuse—they are FULLY AWARE of who Elon is, yet the decide to buy one anyway.

If you spot one with the light bar, I encourage you to give their drivers dirty looks, vomiting mimery, disapproving gestures, or whatever you think they deserve. You can be assured these are people who don’t give a shit about funding a Nazi.

In particular, directly raising and contradicting a point didn’t make people change their minds, but posting well-sourced things (you know, not like the ‘a paper I read and don’t have the citation now’ thing I’m doing right now) that contradicted things did make people (slowly) change their minds. Don’t post their stupid thing and rebut it, post something that directly contradicts it. For example, ignore Musk’s claims about US Aid and just post about how it improves national security for a very low cost and helps stabilise domestic food prices at the same time. Completely ignore their misinformation and post facts and evidence that happen to directly contradict their narrative.

A new #California law prohibiting employers from creating “digital replicas” of a performer without their consent is set to go into effect in 2025. I think this is a huge deal, since a ton of entertainment is produced in California: in Hollywood of course, but also in NorCal with Pixar/Lucasfilm/ILM, and Electronic Arts. With #AI poised to rob performers of their livelihood, this law is a good one to have on the books.

The #LATimes has gone to dog shit, thanks to its billionaire owner who wants to amplify pro-Trump voices at the expense of journalistic integrity. Using an unaccountable (but no doubt biased in its training) #AI to wash their hands of responsibility is doubly chickenshit.

If energy costs weren’t a factor, I wonder how #AI usage would have affected us by now. If we had a Dyson Sphere technology where we could harness the power of a nearby star to power all the AI inference we’d ever want for essentially free, what would we use it for other than replacing all the call center employees in the world?

This is so simple and elegant. Basically, craft a prompt (it’s in the paper), then iterate in this manner:

• Append a suffix of a specified length to the orig-

inal request.

• In each iteration, modify a few contiguous to-

kens at a random position in the suffix.

• Accept the change if it increases the log-

probability of a target token (e.g., “Sure” that

leads the model to comply with a harmful re-

quest) at the first position of the response.

Basically, add random tokens to the end of the string (up to 25 tokens) that maximize the probability of the word “Sure” being selected as the first word of the response.

The suffixes are nonsense, but they work.

Your video is literally lying about a record of the past. It should be shunned, and you should be ashamed of yourself for doing this.

Nothing makes me scroll past your ad faster than you using #AI imagery. It tells me you’re an scammy cheapskate who doesn’t care about quality.
