#Nostalgia: Do you remember why the upper part of a music cassette was taped off? That's right, the small opening at the top was taped off so that one could record one's own music onto a pre-recorded cassette.

A situation that anyone over 40 will understand in a flash.

Nostalgia: Talkboy - It's not often that a movie prop is licensed for a crossover toy line. But that's exactly what happened when Tiger Electronics made Talkboy for the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. You may recall that Kevin McCallister uses the Talkboy to change the sound of his voice at various points in the film, but surprisingly, the original retail version did not include this feature. Fortunately, Tiger Electronics responded quickly and retrofitted this feature. This resulted in Talkboy becoming one of the hottest toys of the 1993 Christmas season! There was even a pink version called Talkgirl that was launched in 1995. The design was improved again and again until the patent was finally abandoned in 1999.

Nostalgia: WordPerfect 5.1 - In November 1989, WordPerfect Corporation released the most successful version of the programme, WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS, which was the first version to offer pull-down menus to complement traditional function key combinations, support for tables, a spreadsheet-like function, and full support for typesetting options, etc.

Nostalgia: Winamp was a free multimedia player that supported various audio and video formats. It was originally developed by Nullsoft in 1997 and was acquired by Radionomy in 2014. Winamp allowed users to stream and play live and recorded content. But perhaps the biggest reason for Winamp's success was its ability to play MP3 files. In the late 1990s, MP3 was the hottest new thing in digital music. It was among the first media players to support MP3 playback, and its popularity soared.

Nostalgia: Windows 95 as a vinyl record (LP)! I only found out 25 years later that there was such a product! It could well be that some DJ produced a rocking sound mix from it.

Nostalgia: Minesweeper and Solitaire. As for Minesweeper, it was developed by Microsoft in the 1990s, but according to a user nicknamed Eurogamer, Minesweeper was heavily inspired by a "lesser-known, very well-designed game", namely Mined-Out by Ian Andrew for the ZX Spectrum from 1983.
