As drugmakers slam Medicare price controls, Wall Street shrugs https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/08/29/medicare-drug-price-pharma-companies-stock/
I’m a fan of liberated market capitalism (think Free as in GPL). These companies love their captured, uncapitalist monopolies and fight for them tooth and nail. It’s great to see the tide turning against them!
Big pharma: We should be able to charge whatever prices the market will bear. We love capitalism!
Medicare: Cool. Then let’s negotiate.
Big pharma: NOT LIKE THAT!

“Also, let him know we have storage space if he needs to unload extra gear.”

I was listening to Erasure this morning, as one does, and it reminded me of one of the things I love about living in the Bay Area.
Mrs Tek told me she met this nice guy, Tom. He made some music stuff. There was a new YouTube video out about him that she wanted to watch.
Oh. *That* Tom. Tom Oberheim. She'd just randomly bumped into the guy who invented the Oberheim Xpander, among a zillion other things.
Mrs Tek: “You've heard of him?”
Me: "Oh, yeah, I've heard of him.”
nostr:npub1vt6jxxdq4dxagey8zehrg46crl9dyqqg4hm9az3p38vel06hwcqqaky2jc Aww, dang it. How much is that in Schrute Bucks?

We haven’t had a proper awoo in a while. Awoo! :blobawoo:
I don't hold this against nostr:npub1q4nxxry8a3u4hcd66wx4lwcl0gn44wdeeqtpgmxh09znx4njruvsyl2vxc at all. I installed a beta OS and I knew what I was getting myself into. I just can't imagine quite what combination of app and OS interplay ends up as “can't render docs shorter than 999 characters”.
I'm starting to see an increase in recruiter spam. The ecosystem is recovering.
Sunday mornings are for filing expense reports, right?
Currently watching “My 600-Lb. Life”, which I know is exploitative and problematic, but so we can root for the patients. “Her husband is an ass. I know how she could lose 250 pounds off her back right now.” “I like this guy! Come on, buddy! You can do it!” "Whoa, look how happy she looks!”

Trying to install a Lisp language server on my Mx Mac, but it requires Roswell, and Roswell wants to install sbcl, but the version of sbcl doesn't run on Sonoma, so I went to build the updated sbcl with the Sonoma fix, but sbcl requires a working Lisp to compile it, but it can also use clisp, so I used clisp to build sbcl, then sbcl to re-build itself for good measure, and now I almost but not quite have Roswell working.
Wait, what was the end goal again?
nostr:npub1epuw9pd9rexkkvs43c03gcz9pztat8vfaczaqezzufn68e4qu68s0x603l I occasionally convert these to number of C64 floppies for perspective. For instance, this drive is about 126 million floppies.
I wonder how many the world made in 1983? What portion of the world’s entire floppy manufacturing capacity does this one drive represent? I'd love to know.
Hi, new little hard drive for the RAID.
