Out of nowhere I’m getting another bout of fatigue, mostly asleep and what now feels like an inner ear infection. There’s also the general bewilderment around my autism diagnosis a couple of years back, which I still struggle to get my head round.

Long story short, it’s all rather depressing. Meh.

My pet peeve on here is when people post a series of connected thoughts, but instead of making them into a thread, they post each one independently

I have so many questions about what just happened with Voyager 2. But let's review:

On August 20, 1977, Voyager 2 was launched from Earth.

In December 1977, it entered the asteroid belt.

In June 1978, its main radio receiver failed. Since then it's been using the backup receiver!

On July 9, 1979, it flew past many of Jupiter's moons and made its closest approach to Jupiter.

On August 26, 1981 it shot past Saturn.

On August 25, 1989 it shot past Uranus.

On November 5, 2018 it crossed the heliopause and entered interstellar space, 120 times farther from the Sun than we are.

On July 18, 2023, it overtook Pioneer 10 and became the second farthest man-made object from the Sun.

3 days later, some idiot sent a command that pointed its high gain antenna 2 degrees away from Earth. HOW EXACTLY DID THIS HAPPEN?

On August 4, 2023, NASA used its most high-powered transmitter to successfully command Voyager 2 to reorient towards Earth, resuming communications. HOW WAS THAT POSSIBLE?

How can you "shout" across 120 AU and attract the attention of someone who is not looking in your direction? That's very far. It takes light about 16 hours to travel that far.

It appears there is a massive surge in Facebook spam to pages going on over past 24hrs. The enshitification of social media continues.

On a rare occasion, I called Nikita over and pet her for 10 min straight until she was satisfied and done. Then she went off to eat because a good petting makes her hungry. She came back for more after eating.

I feel so bad because the more anxious I get the more frequently she scratches her ears. She went from blissfully happy and relaxed to on edge, less active, and scratching. I’ll get back to no stress once I readjust. She was a very happy cat until all that stuff happened.

British people have a habit of inventing sports and then not being the best at them.

Take badminton. They invented it. To this day, the most prestigious badminton event is the All England.

But what countries are best at it? China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and Denmark. Brits don’t even have a single player in the top 10.

Brits invented football but I think Brazil, France, and Argentina are better at it.

Brits invented cricket. But India and Australia are better at it.

Brits invented rugby. But Ireland, New Zealand, and South Africa are better at it.

Brits invented boxing. They do very well at it. The current heavyweight division is dominated by Brits. But I think the most successful nations at boxing are USA and Mexico. Puerto Rico has the most success per capita when you consider population, though.
