“... and when ‘the future’ is uttered, swarms of mice
rush out of the Russian language and gnaw a piece
of ripened memory which is twice
as hole-ridden as real cheese.
After all these years it hardly matters who
or what stands in the corner, hidden by heavy drapes,
and your mind resounds not with a seraphic ‘do,’
only their rustle. Life, that no one dares
to appraise, like that gift horse’s mouth,
bares its teeth in a grin at each
encounter. What gets left of a man amounts
to a part. To his spoken part. To a part of speech.” ~Joseph Brodsky from “A Part Of Speech”
My sister requested a shift today— but she had the option.
no worries— on social media — I usually make typos— not on purpose though.
I have mixed feelings about the edit button because sometimes typos (even though they are mistakes) can be enchanting. I use the edit button on Mastodon.
Love live oak trees too
OMG— this took me back to my first years of teaching middle school kids. Once the “mama jokes” start — oh boy! Tempers rise. And then, once things get under control— they find code words to insult “the moms.” They don’t teach these things in college— what to do with “mama jokes” 🤣
thanks for sharing this. I’ve been reading pieces on this subject.
Thanks! And it’s still warm enough to wear all my favorite dresses & skirts— and I do wear dresses in the winter as well— but not when it gets insanely cold.
life! And putting Joni Mitchell & Neil Young aside for a second & tuning into a larger issue— this leads me to think about the artist as an individual vs art. How one often struggles to separate the two if an artist does something that upsets a person. I was rereading Joseph Brodsky’s thoughts on Ezra Pound this Friday.
Great advice— love her videos! https://nostr.build/av/14b0e595a29581dc3b1302ecad0c8a380032a36212e76442aa6438f2f41ced5f.mov
Found two dress pants on sale 🙌🏼 to mix & match with my sweaters/blouses. But jeans are so easy to dress up or down— I miss wearing them to work.
One day a week, teachers at my school are allowed to wear jeans & pay a fee that raised money for something work related. For me— a dressy blouse & not so casual cut jeans were typically the norm on these days. But this school year— no more jean days (for a reason not mentioning) & I’m so sad. But I’m also on the look out to add to my wardrobe— #shopping
