Yesterday’s clouds (it’s after 12 here, so… 💜) #October #Saturday

Learning A-Z is a great resource— the stories come in multiple languages as well.

Tis the season… I had my students read a version of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow this week— Every year, the kids love it— it’s a great way to analyze character motivation. Was there really a headless horseman? Or was it a prank?

So many times have I heard an author say they burned or destroyed letters or earlier writings. But now in this digital life of ours… I wonder what will be “unearthed” by future scholars.

“Emily Hale was an American speech and drama teacher who worked at Simmons, Scripps, and Smith colleges. There was speculation over the exact nature of the relationship between Emily Hale and T.S. Eliot, but the letters revealed an intensely emotional, if chaste, relationship between the two for nearly two decades. He notes the places they visited together, his feelings for her, and how they inspired his work. Sadly, Eliot burned her letters to him, so we will never know her part of this correspondence.”

One more… (a quote often triggers many thoughts)— but I was carrying in the groceries earlier (bought my Halloween Candy— and had to hide it):

Anyway— hope you read about this when it was released— good stuff if you are an Eliot admirer or reader of his work/life: https://library.princeton.edu/news/general/2020-12-13/insights-unsealed-ts-eliot-emily-hale-letters-one-year-later

Oh! I’m suddenly reminded of a line from one of his poems— Might reread a little Eliot tonight.

💔 But— you could look at this another way— the interactions meant something to the person who sought a meaningful connection— whatever drew them into that person’s field of gravity brought them a world—

Worlds hold many lessons.

In the best case scenarios— we leave or stay a little wiser.

nice! My best friend plays for an adult league. She is coaching her son’s team now.

Some Literary theorists love analyzing the voice behind the voice in the text— read a great book about this last Winter/Spring.

This might come through twice 🤔
