Spent the weekend analysing Cambridge’s bitcoin consumption index CBECI.
Conclusion: was accurate but has lost tune since the China-ban. Now overestimating by around 20%.

Decoupling:
Bitcoin price up but emissions down 3% since Dec17 ‘23.
Reason: marathons renewable migration and new sustainable hashrate on the network
