I’m DMs I don’t think this friction is a dealbreaker, for normal feed images it is.
Maybe nip94 encrypted images (pay per upload/download via specialized relays that want to do this. It’s not free to store and transmit images anyway so users should pay the cost with a single tap like a zap. Anyone could pay the fee and download the data but only correct nsec could decrypt?
Tldr “anyone with link” sucks. Anyone with nsec or gtfo imo for private content
But I guess this link way presupposes you don’t like nip 94 and native image uploads to relays, encrypted or not. Idk feels like the leaning tower of nostr, more bolted on hacks upon hacks 🤷♂️ why wouldn’t we want native specialized relays hosting these files with proper nostr key encryption / signatures
Right but then there isn’t proof that I sent it. It’s one step removed, it takes intentional action/reupload unless they want to share their private key?
Why “anyone with link” instead of encrypted with the recipient’s public key? If I DM someone an image why would I want it viewable by anyone else with just a shared link?
I’ll play with it later, thanks
Yes but phone can only do one vpn at a time and it’s currently being used for non tor, so would be awesome to have built in tor in this way 🙏 at your coding speed I bet it would take maybe 40 min 😅
Also can we add relays in a private manner? How to backup my content to my own relay without telling the whole network that I’m connected to that address?
#[6] can we add .onion relays to amethyst?
Yes I meant unencrypted notification content like a DM reply coming in, would you or Google see that or only locally decrypted on device? I’m just wary of anything that touches google.
#[3] ^^ chatgpt raises some questions, can you or Google see notification content? Potentially deanonymizing if Google can see content and IP address/device token (is this token app specific or a hardware identifier?)
But technically, what information does Google learn when an app uses FCM for notifications?
are there any privacy concerns with enabling notifications on android apps?
It does everything over tor by default, meaning to use one’s own relay running on it, the nostr client needs to be able to connect to a .onion relay address, right #[7] ?
