Extracting on Earth will become harder and harder because gold deposits will inevitably deplete. Until we find new deposits, #Bitcoin will be ahead of the race.
I strongly believe there's gold in comets and asteroids, the asteroid belt would be the first place to start looking for rare earth minerals and graphite.
Gold production could fall to lowest levels ever due to the depletion of deposits and conflict in Africa but man would never stop looking for gold off-world. It's a very good electrical conductor and used for high tech electrical wiring.
