Minimus sum, mus sum. (I am Minimus, I am a mouse.) I live at Vindolanda (and in Suffolk) with my family. I'll help you to learn Latin. sequere me! (Follow me!)

6: Medea - filia regis et striga potentissima (princess and powerful witch) - helped Jason, murdered a few people (oops..) and escaped in a currus (chariot) drawn by dracones volatiles (flying snakes)

timeo: I fear

Minimus was not expecting to find a serpens (snake) in the herba (grass) - even a very brave mouse would be a little startled! Luckily for him, this snake is not only benevola (friendly) but also factitia (artificial)...

Replying to 919acc40...

my favourite thing on here lately is nostr:npub1rx70rmvsu82fhl8jgd8w5zc9hn26hjeydqq2cuekmteqryf40aas9hacx3 the little mouse that speaks Latin 🐁

i'm not learning Latin but the pictures are really cute and it's interesting to see where some familiar words come from!!

tibicino: I play the pipes

Minimus is learning to play the tibia utricularis (bagpipes) as the imperator improbus (wicked emperor) Nero did, but Minima has covered her aures (ears) with her paws. Minimus thinks she is no amatrix musicae (music lover)!

coacervo: I hoard

Minimus has been hoarding pruna silvestria (wild plums*) gathered from the saepes (hedge). He's planning to preserve them in mel (honey), as he doesn't have a frigidaria (ice box)

*also called cherry plums

nostr:npub1rx70rmvsu82fhl8jgd8w5zc9hn26hjeydqq2cuekmteqryf40aas9hacx3 Ut nove! Sed cur "involare"? Verumne Romani hoc vocabulum locuti erant? Quamquam nescio.

nostr:npub1wg4j7w3ylxmdzlrus6j750e82gmxkulshx2ke73s9rtnhcxl8mtq8rmer2 It's used by Tacitus, Catullus and Petronius with this meaning - also it appears in one of the real defixiones

relaxo: I relax

Minimus relaxat animum (relaxes his mind) at bedtime with a ficta fabula (a fictional story) from his liber (book). He likes to read about mures callidi (clever mice) escaping from mustelae saevae (savage weasels) and accipitres esurientes (hungry hawks).
