"Freedom of speech is being able to tell someone else something they don't want to hear." "No matter what you say, someone is going to be offended." "Once you realize that politicians are not altruistic, and that they're in politics for themselves and their own personal gain, then everything makes sense." "No one is above the law." "Have you ever met a poor politician?"

Relay help--

Trying to set up a local Nostr relay via Umbrel on RPi5

Setup gives me a ws:// link which I've added to my Primal settings...

(And I believe(?) that if I'm on the same local network I do not need to set up Tailscale?)

And (despite the above) there are no "actions" recorded on the RPi relay.

Thoughts?

Some great stuff can be found on Nostr...if you poke around a bit.

Case in point nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx had a great website: https://odell.xyz

Lots of great tools and advice, and worth a visit...

(Thanks for assembling this nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx)

This is REALLY good--thanks for sharing!!!

Question for Saturday: Who's coffee are you drinking right now?

You may feel that way, but the math simply doesn't work.

Someone has to pay for that (like any entitlement) and then (over time) prices rise to compensate--and you're right back where you started.

It's all "economic propaganda" - people want "free stuff" and if they think they can get it, they'll vote for it...and then we end up with dystopian governments in charge.

Take a course in macro economics...I'm sure it'll be covered.

Sorry Annie--but also not true.

It sounds good to "blame the rich" but it's simply not he case.

The increase in rents you're seeing now are directly related to inflation, which is secondary to money printing by the government, in order to fund the entitlements needed to purchase votes.

End the entitlements--end the money printing--and housing becomes affordable.

(Not trying to be argumentative--only pointing out the economic factors in play)

UBI actually doesn't work--if you look at the economics, it's only a temporary band-aid.

Just one more example of something that sounds like it should work, but doesn't.

(Sorry to be the bearer of bad news)

Well, I may have forgotten what day of the week it is...(it's Friday righ?) but I've not forgotten my coffee...

Generalizing here (and folks may disagree) but open source is almost always "not quite as robust" as commercial software.

And that makes sense--OEMs have more resources, more developers, and can tailor apps to their specific hardware.

(Just peek at OpenOffice vs. Excel--the "basics" work, but advanced functionality like PowerQuery available in Excel isn't to be found in OpenOffice).

Just my $0.02 though - YMMV

p.s. please don't view this to mean I'm not a fan of open source - I'm a huge supporter, and a Linux user -- but just offering an honest opinion.
