Might need to have a thing that merges together all ancestors of the same parent thread under it too. But I can cope with that better than just having the same thread recur at different points.

Thank you, definitely going to look into threads. I think a good solution might be to mark a certain set of notes as a thread, rather than infer it when reading. But in this note are you talking more about how the current feed shows the same note multiple times as a reply and as a parent? If so I agree that is very annoying.

At least nostr can't do worse than twitter at controlling spam. Actually, if the creativity and pace of development in general is any indication, I think we have a good chance of coming up with a highly effective strategy for beating bots.
