The truth is that thee people still have not reasoned out the answer to this question. At best they might just argue that there is no such defense and people must accept it. But at some point fear takes over and people will not.

This created a cognitive dissonance, resulting in so-called anarchists defaulting to statism. Many then convinced themselves that the whole thing was a hoax and fault others for themselves being duped. Yet this implies that if it wasn’t (or isn’t next time) they would be statist.

It’s hard for people to recognize how a free society allows people to protect themselves from others who may be contagious without placing that burden on the other. Well-meaning anarchists (libertarian is a minarchist) failed to reason this out.
