"Sleepover" is a little juvenile a term, but I could respect them crashing in the same place if the drive was long. I on occasion crash at a friend's place if I'm in StL and I'm up there for a late event, rather than make the 1.5hrs drive back after midnight.

It's also the same root as polite. It's ironic we tend to think of talking politics as impolite.

The root word is polis, from the Greek to mean "city". True politics is the art of living in community. It's a matter of the organizing of society. In politics, our focus ought be on continually improving and optimizing our shared lives. The problems arise when we cease to see the forest for the density of the trees, or vice-versa, we find we cannot see trees for the breadth of the forest.

The pendulum swings between seeing us fundamentally as individuals or as groups, and just like a person is neither a body nor a spirit but rather their union, so too are we neither isolated and atomized nor an amalgamated homogenous mass, but rather individuals in community.

We mirror (or are the image of, if you will) the Triune Godhead in this respect. Distinct and United, both. Although the bodies remain distinct, in marriage the two are one flesh. In Christ, we are one Body. Unity is the highest social virtue, second only to charity.

The market: Sorry to burst your bubble, but others would like to afford housing, too

Boomers, gen X, and the few wealthy millennials: *gets angry at real estate gurus for selling them on unlimited wealth*

Bitcoiners, 50% of libertarians, and gold bugs: yeah, well if you don't like market manipulation, you shoulda not invited governmental intervention. You reap what you sow.

This is true. Until just now, I haven't realized how much my opinion of another businessperson was influenced by his video call setup.

Fans of The Office who just can't cope and who also don't just buy the DVDs on Amazon.

Does this mean a non-webapp desktop client that doesn't suck is on its way?

Still seems it may be able to thermal throttle.

Rate my setup

BTW, video editing isn't too bad if you have modern hardware. Otherwise, speaking from experience, it's a bit like a groin shot: painful and has a long recovery time.

I like it! Maybe also by frequency of access, so archive relays can have slower but larger storage to keep costs down while smaller, faster, purged relays can keep things speedy.

Like Rust's compiler is written in Rust, Nostr's improvements are discussed in Nostr, and its code is committed in itself. #Codeception

I wouldn't call it a breakdown so much as a limit to the human memory and social dynamics. It's far more efficient to use an external record than to recall social interactions with hundreds of people, especially commercial interaction.

Money is an external record of having rendered service and delivered goods to neighbors. Before communities grow beyond a couple hundred people, money is redundant with the human capacity to share fairly and remember the generosity and goodwill of others, but it becomes essential when communities blend and grow in to the thousands.
