Many years ago, I regularly bought my cigars from a guy named Leo. The store wasn’t his store; he was in a minimum wage job in a grocery chain store which owned and had a cigar store attached to it.
During the years I bought from him, we’d talk for a few minutes each time I came to the store. He’d tell me about how he had been saving up his whole life and was planning to finally start enjoying his life when he reached 65 and could retire. He planned on taking his wife on a vacation. His excitement was growing as his 65th birthday drew near.
One day, I arrived at the store and saw that there was a teenager in his place behind the kiosk.
‘Where’s Leo?’ I asked, expecting something banal like ‘he’s got a cold today’
The teenager nodded sombrely towards a small framed photo off to the side which I hadn’t seen before. I leaned in and looked at it. It was a photo of Leo.
‘He passed away last night’ she said quietly.
It turns out that Leo never did make it to 65. He had a heart attack.
He’d spent his whole life trading his time for sustenance. Squirrelling away what little extra he had each month, saving it so that one day he could take his wife on a vacation.
He didn’t understand inflation, he didn’t understand that the conventional wisdom was robbing him of his life. As he saved, trading his previously limited time for money, that money lost value over time! Time is money. Money is time. The govt and their cantillionaire masters stole Leo’s money through inflation, therefore they stole his time.
That was the moment, about 20 years ago now, that I realized that our system was a cruel fiction. I didn’t understand why yet, I didn’t know about sound money or even inflation, but I knew that what had happened to Leo was fundamentally wrong.
It’s the matrix. It’s a tax farm, and we’re all animals; they’ll tax us and steal our wealth through inflation until we die, then they’ll tax whatever we’ve managed to save once it goes to our nearest of kin.
It’s criminal.
The fiat pyramid scheme is poison. It is anathema to human dignity. Fiat is their money.
