you're right. i logged out and logged back in using login button and it did use Alby extension correctly.
so that part is not broken, just cluttered interface where they assume i will read the whole page and i simply clicked on the first thing i recognized.
like WTF is this ? where is my feed ? it has my avatar showing and it even has all my relays right. but my feed is nowhere to be found ?
first of all when i wanted to log in with Alby it just sent me to Alby site instead of using Alby extension that i already have working with all other clients
then i had to log in with my NPUB ...
and it did log in me, in the sense that my avatar showed up on the upper right corner etc ...
but instead of my timeline it was just a bunch of posts by FiatJaf ...

Coracle is maybe the least broken of what i tried but unacceptable to me as it wants to make its own rules, such as no reposts etc.

but the killer feature of noStrudel is the way it previews the posts as you compose them ... Twitter does something similar but i think noStrudel actually does it better.
discourse forum hosting software i use on my site also previews posts but the preview pane is collapsible there if you don't want it. i actually have it collapsed because when it's on it moves the text box away from the center and i hate that. with discourse if the post ends up not looking right i can just edit it later - but with NOSTR you want to get it right the first time so preview is essential to have.

if a person can't make a minimal commitment like that then there is a 100% chance they are of no value to the platform to begin with.
lurkers will be allowed to read content without having to get a relay but won't be able to post.
on other hand with your own relay you can post ANYTHING ( 10 hour videos etc. ) because it's YOUR server and you aren't subject to anybody's rules.
from experience of having my own site having control over your content is pretty huge. the ability to go back to a post i made years ago and fix broken links etc. two things my site is missing is
1 - it isn't federated
2 - can't upload videos ( haven't tried anyway )
whereas what NOSTR is missing for me is also two things

essentially NOSTR is a decentralized censorship resistant alternative to Twitter as it existed a decade ago ...

1 - Toyota Yaris is the cheapest car in America. probably doesn't have the best handling in the wet.

3 - no Guard Rail in place to prevent the car from hitting trees. Trees are Death Traps for cars - Guard Rails are the solution - hence why we don't use them so we can use the deaths to whine about speeding and use it as excuse to have speed limits and charge people speeding tickets, making money for the state.
i was in a similar situation myself where i crashed my car into a light pole at 70 mph and was protected by airbag but my friend had a concussion because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
