Today is a special day for some of us. On August 23rd, 1939, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was signed in Moscow, for the Germans to get the Western part of Poland, while the Soviets to get the Eastern part and the Baltics. It paved the road for Nazi Germany to invade Poland on September 1st, while the Soviet Union invaded it on September 17th, to not make it too obvious.
Long story short, the Soviet Union won while Nazi Germany f'd up and, as a consequence, fixed its mistakes.
Let's talk a bit about the big winner. You might want to know what excuse was used back then. Some of you know and some of you guessed. "To protect minorities"
But, they didn't stop there, so let me present a few facts that are usually skipped from some History manuals.
Later that year, they decided to invade Finland.
Next year, they invaded the Baltics.
After WW2 ended, here they go again.
In 1956, they attacked Hungary.
In 1968, it was Czechoslovakia's turn.
In 1979, they went for Afghanistan. In the end, this fuelled the collapse of the Soviet Union. But wait!
In 1992, Russia went to the country of Georgia.
Same year, they decided to spread freedom in the Republic of Moldova.
In 1994, they attacked Chechnya.
After they signed the peace deal, they attacked them again in 1999.
In 2008, they went again to Georgia.
In 2014, as you already know, the freedom spreading started in Ukraine.
In 2015, Syria.
Then, in 2022, they decided to liberate Ukraine again.
