That really is next level psycho. I haven’t personally gone to that level but remember passphrases and sacrificial wallets. Wrench attacks are only gonna get worse for a while. Create “easy” honey pots and have a good strategy or go multi sig

Go full psycho. Seed signer off the shelf, verify, make wallet with passphrase, create address, send stack, destroy seed signer, seed on steel, passphrase only you and missus. Bury steel somewhere. Buy ledger, stick some sats on it, write seed down and “hide” it. Job done

How much is all the tungsten in Fort Knox worth?

Fort Knox currently holds approximately 147.3 million ounces of gold bullion, which equates to about 4,583 metric tons.

Gold-dipped tungsten bullion implies that the gold is only a thin coating over a tungsten core, significantly reducing the actual gold content. If we consider this scenario, the value would depend on how much actual gold is present in the coating:

Tungsten: Tungsten is much less valuable than gold, typically costing around a few dollars per pound. For the sake of this calculation, let's assume the tungsten value is negligible compared to gold.

Gold Coating: The exact amount of gold in a gold-dipped tungsten bar can vary greatly. However, for an illustrative calculation, let's assume each ounce of tungsten is coated with 0.01 ounces of gold (this is speculative since real-world thickness could vary significantly).

If we apply this to 147.3 million ounces of tungsten:

Gold content: 147,300,000 ounces * 0.01 = 1,473,000 ounces of gold.

Using the current price of gold at approximately $2,893.70 per ounce:

Value of gold: 1,473,000 ounces * $2,893.70 = $4,264,901,100

Therefore, if each of the 147.3 million ounces of tungsten were coated with just 0.01 ounces of gold, the total dollar value of the gold part would be approximately $4.26 billion. The tungsten itself would add very little to this value, so this figure largely represents the gold component. Remember, this is a very hypothetical scenario, and actual values would depend on the real thickness of the gold coating.

A little comedy speculation which I posted about earlier as well. Its not always melted to verify and one only needs to go back to the delivery in Hong Kong just over 10 years ago to see why it should be but acoustics is faster and easier to carry out quick verification

Saw lots when I was in el Salvador but pretty chilled. I spoke to a few. Cant name out the Spanish there but I doubt there's any concern at all

Yeah cause "we have catalogued 4,325 tons of gold plated tungsten" possibly doesn't calm the bankers down

Audit the gold? Hope that would include acoutics and not some silly serial number checking. Might need to get some more popcorn!

There shouldn't be at that time so I'd seriously look at other options to be honest. The airport area is not pretty really.

What time is your flight going to be by the way? If in rush hour, stay close to airport, SJ is an absolute nightmare during rush hour. If not, and you have the time, you could look for something in Santa anna. It's a nice area. Just make sure to check times on maps and add a good cushion to see if it's possible

#nostr ain’t just weird, it makes you weird! Phone starts pinging with zaps coming in. Pick it up, scroll down and zap the whole lot and more out to devs. Considering where society is right now, that’s the height of rational behaviour but guess it probably would be considered weird!

Why not sell the house now? 🤔

Had a great message from a friend last year. Just have two properties and yeah have been stacking for years but keep asking myself why I don't live in a tent!

Well that sent me down a little rabbit hole. First used as a term in 1828 but for political context. Rug pulling being the withdrawal of support. Most stuff online refers to it being a relatively new term used particularly for crypto. I definitely remember its use in a few newsletters back in the great banking theft of 2008. Interesting. Thanks!

If you can’t find anything, remember there’s a default solution which is just for proximity really. Holiday inn express or Hampton behind it. The holiday in is quite close to main road so can be a bit noisy. If you end up having to go there, there’s a Rosti chicken place which is not as bad as it looks but best food option is go into the casino

Older than that. JP Morgan for example at the Great Depression. Surely a rug pull should simply be considered the scamming of fast return chasers by people with asymmetric knowledge?
