What is Merged Mining?
Merged mining refers to the process where miners can mine two or more blockchains/sidechains simultaneously without having to split their computational power.
One of the most cited examples of merged mining is between Bitcoin and Namecoin. Namecoin, being a smaller network, benefited from the security provided by Bitcoin's massive mining power while Bitcoin miners enjoyed extra rewards from Namecoin without any added effort.
