For those new to #nostr
Early(ish) #twitter was quirky and fun. Hashtags were really important. When you followed enough people, the main stream was impossible to keep up with, but that wasn’t such a big deal because of hashtags and retweets (users boosting signal). Then it felt like it shifted from thoughts and discussions to more links. Still good, but different. Then the algorithms came in. At first they were helpful, imo. “While you were away” was great because it gave you a dozen or so tweets from people you interacted with a lot.
And then at some point around or a little before the trump election the algorithms got turned way up and it became way more of a hellscape. Covid obviously poured gasoline onto hell.
#nostr social clients feel like early(ish) Twitter right now. Which means that hashtags and reposting are really important. Zaps are as well. Remember, likes don’t boost signal on Nostr like they do on Twitter - no algorithm. They’re basically a head nod to the person. Nothing wrong with that, but I think if new users come into it with these things in mind then they can better calibrate their expectations.
And I thought early Twitter was way better. There was a fantastic math teacher community that I was a part of. Then it became less about community and more about just blasting stuff to your followers.

Every time I try to get my 2 year old to eat vegetables, it’s like performing a Jedi mind trick 🧙♂️
Best of luck, man. I know the struggle.
S’more time. #foodstr #grownostr
In case you can’t see what’s going on, my son caught a fish and it got wrapped around the the boat hoist. So I had to get it unstuck. Mission was successful. Lol. #fishing #grownostr
Don’t tell anyone but I still have one tap zaps in #Damus. Something about updating TestFlight… 🤷♂️

I’m the same way. Weird that it can have such a varied effect on people.
gm nostr. Here's a short coffee story for you.
About a year ago I was a dinner party and drank a cup of coffee at about 8:00pm. At 1:00 in the morning I was so wired that I was confident I could fly a fighter jet. Last night my wife drank a small cup of black coffee and it put her to sleep. I don't understand. #coffeechain
I just started putting cinnamon in lattes when I order them a few weeks ago. Life changing!
“Spookyswap” What a joke. Well, worse than a joke, because people probably got scammed.
Easy 3 miles this morning, first half with the doggo.

Yes, this is great potential of #nostr. I remember hearing nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft talk about it on a podcast a few months ago and it was a light bulb moment for me. nostr:note1qnff2dlth82p0v5dpu36jg5w7ch2l9l5nx5tt0z2p752mvu0kgwq2m4mfh
