Accidental Electronic Engineer. Geek. Servant to too many cats. Growing old disgracefully. Anti-Fascist. Anti-Bigot. Apparently does radio things sometimes. Collector of e-waste, handcuffs and injuries, not usually related. Usually shitposts and normally inappropriate. Jack of all. Master of none. I'm here to help you feel less affected by imposter syndrome. I do not take myself seriously. No, I don't want to get into your pants. ACE. Oversharing online since Fidonet. Potty Mouth.

"I know you're off today but I know you'll be by your computer and watching this, could you just.." via Teams.

Fuck off into the sea...

... is what I should have said.

That's actually something I wonder if I could make a detection kit for. Reflection of finger grease on buttons. Makes sense that the first button you press will consistently have more grease on it than subsequent buttons. Would it be linear? Logarithmic?

If I still had any get up and go left at the moment I'd give it a go but now is not the right time. Let me know how you get on if you try. I'd go for light refraction if I was going to try.

You're welcome.

Maybe I'm just not "the man". Or she's never heard about me in whatever fucking stupid conspiracy theories she's read about on the internet this week.

nostr:npub14unegdf5e6jvv5lllda6cdqw8xxg8dmjcl0z3glexdxtd59xeydqylnv92 I'd heard about the antenna thing but I haven't confirmed it.

I feel like it's the day to "have difficult discussions" and "provide direct and actionable feedback".

I'm hearing news on FB that Purple Aki has died but all I can find is some two obviously AI written articles about it.

Gah. This would have been quicker waiting for the HP3456A to warm up, I already have a script to read from that.

Anyway, all done and I'm finally pulling in values from my SDM3045X.

Plug meter into USB. Open PuTTY, type SCPI command and get data. Easy.

Far too easy so it's not implemented. Bloody VISA. I just wanted to write a quick python script 😠

Someone's just given the username and password to what would be described as a "popular website" so I can archive it forever. It will be taken offline forever shortly (Not my decision, but that's why I've offered to archive it).

I promised not to abuse the authority and post dancing genitalia or something.

My wife is away for the night. I thought for a few seconds about getting people around and taking advantage of it, drinking and doing things I would never admit to in public but may have to in front of a jury.

Then I realised I'd get the entire bed to myself (except for the cats) and I am going to take full advantage of that comfort and have a nice early night.

We spent a lot of money on that mattress and I'm going to enjoy it.

Today's rabbit hole is "Electrical infrastructure at an Antarctic Research Station".

The remnants of the start of my radio interest from almost 30 years ago.

Never planning on going so deep I'd need decompression stops, but I realise why it's important to know them. Damn, I read so many marine techo-thriller fiction.

Replying to 1080cf53...

nostr:npub16jupxu70nh0pg0wt4maseaf2fg3kv2tgcjal2kaaunms2ltdaxysdry8u7 I've done it once, I found it quite a lot of fun. I used to be a massive snorkel fan when I was younger.

nostr:npub1g50jwpm7tf8jw02l23vvg5grc2ak4uz9y4ardtcvajjppefrhqmsp2e362 has an (expired) diving license. She now thinks it's a huge responsibility and doesn't like having that.

We've got a video of our honeymoon dive.

I go swimming and kayaking in North Wales lakes. I think I can handle a bit of stuff more interesting. I do own a wetsuit though.

Ah, that song that mentions my favourite brand of soldering irons.

Weller weller tell me more...

There's a light display doing rotating hearts on the wall. They just look like rotating ballsacks.
