What charities or nonprofits do you give money to, and why?

If you had a thousand dollars that you had to give away to an organization or person that you don't personally know, what would it be and how would you decide that?

Would you give that money to one place/person, or ten different places/people?

I am indescribably angry that the world is the way it is.

There are times that I can come to radical acceptance of how things are. "So it goes." But right now I think I need to feel it, to burn through the hopelessness and find the smoldering rage that fuels spite against the universe back into some form of hope.
