Protocol homogeneity along with implementation heterogeneity increase the resiliency of decentralized networks and therefore their long-term usefulness.

We can see this in nature: although monoculture farming can lead to optimized yields, the lack of biodiversity could lead catastrophic outcomes due to disease targeting one of the few species in the ecosystem.

We need diversity of relay implementations and tooling just as much we do for clients.
