Just doing some historical stats on how often different artists get played per month on Underground 80s. There are a few artists who aren't getting matched properly (the fixx with fixx) and it's sorted by average annual plays since 2010...

Some of the (poorly-targeted) music promos I get have some amusing writing:

"In the final two compositions ‘Voice of Odin’ and ‘Bones of Rhythm’ we are taken to another world inspired from their collective Irish, Norse and Scottish ancestries. Saint decorates ‘Voice of Odin’ with traditional folk instruments over heavy drums and Freya’s voice feels like its coming to us through the mountains. Bones of Rhythm reaches 135bpm manifesting as an experimental breakbeat driver enchanted by feminine and masculine forces."

Todays email:

"Hola amigo

I reply:

I'm just trying to understand these listeners. I probably sound like I'm complaining, it's more that I just don't get what they're saying.

I get it, we all live in our own unique reality that sometimes overlaps a bit with others

In other news, Qobuz giving me errors trying to download purchases again. Last time this happened it took a day to fix.

I guess it's "service the French way" as they say.

Hilarious hijacked URL in this phishing attempt, "overjoyed common sponge":

I will argue the reason that Podcasts had such high CPM ad rates is because successful ones made you think a friend was recommending something to you, rather than a company shilling something.

My spam filter is being too generous this week:

Hi

I’d love to show you a case study of how we’ve helped radio stations like Soma FM 2X their sales by using SMS campaigns to drive more purchases, cart recoveries, and post-purchase upsells.

Do you have 10 minutes to connect this week?

Thank you,

You only get one: a laptop or a smart phone.

This is a hard one for me but I’d probably say laptop.

I mean, it's the Royal Kingdom, I guess they need SomaFM shirts.

"Attn: CEO,

We are accredited purchase Agents to The ROYAL KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA. There is an on-going tender for the purchase of your products in large quantities. Contact us back if you are interested for more details."

I can’t believe the EFF is defending billionaires now.

I have more dental work coming up in a few weeks, so I was looking at available electric toothbrushes.

Never imagined a $380 electric toothbrush, yet here we are.

Listener email saying why they may not be donating again:

"please mix up the music a bit. I notice the same songs play over and over again" (on DEFCON Radio and Groove Salad).

DEFCON has played over 5000 tracks in July, Groove Salad has played 3717 different tracks in July.)

Sure, Tiki Time, Bossa Beyond and The In Sound have more limited playlists but they're really only designed to be listened to 1-2 hours a day at most)

Play better tracks dude

Here’s my typical #ProTools experience: Need to do something that should take 5 minutes (e.g. update voice track on older podcast). Run ProTools. "You need to update!" ok update. [some kind of error happens] (Then spend 30 minutes trying to figure out what the error was, finally saying forget it, running old version that didn’t need an update anyway)

I we had a program called "Fused Funktion" what kind of music would you expect on it? Trying to come up with a name for a mix of jazz fusion and the jazzier side of funk. Mostly 70s but not exclusively.

The other name was "Diffusion" but that kind of ignores the funk aspect.

Here's an excerpt of it: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6yJ0vcVYuGHA7kO81Aoxtv?si=a8b4a6827d5e46bb&pt=eb31a13bc1ea26de9be61c8c57729521

Is it annoying when I post silly emails here or can they be slightly interesting/funny/ironic?

No, I don't want "Stuart Hagenson as well"
