Credo: Life is harsh. What we can do - and what we should do - is strive to make it less harsh for the people around us. Addendum: you would not deliberately block a wheelchair ramp. Curious, that.

And even if they did, we should still call a spade a spade. This is policy incompatible with democracy, incompatible with a free society. It is explicitly authoritarian. It shades towards fascism.

How about an extra 5% VAT on all good sold in mixed-materials packaging?

How about an extra 5% VAT on all good sold in non-recyclable packaging?

How about an extra 5% VAT on all goods sold in non-standard bottles and jars?

How about an extra 5% VAT on all goods sold with labels stuck on with non-water-soluble glue?

So that's an extra 20% for non-recyclable mixed-material non-standard bottles with bastard glued on labels...

Packaging would get sorted QUICK.

"Democracy may possibly be a good system of governance – I don't believe representative democracy can be, for reasons I shall give below – but we don't know, because at least in the English-speaking world, it's never been tried"

I've been doing a bit more experimenting with #LargeLanguageModels #LLM and truth, and I've got an interesting one.

my experimental design was that I'd start asking about relationships between European monarchs, and then start introducing fictitious monarchs, but I didn't get that far...

#1/several

There's a place in Belgium called #Lisp. Arthur Norman used to have a photograph of the Lisp garbage collector truck (what in Scotland we'd call the scaffie wagon) on the streets of Lisp on the wall of his office at Trinity College, Cambridge.

I'm wondering whether anyone has a copy of such a photo (or could take one), and if so, whether they would share it?

Thanks
