It's not often I'm quoted by Chinese propaganda newspapers, but in case I am, I'm glad it's on the need for free trade and the folly of tariffs.

My first piece for nostr:npub1mznweuxrjm423au6gjtlaxmhmjthvv69ru72t335ugyxtygkv3as8q6mak's stellar new site "The Rage," detailing my recent conversations with high-level government officials at a "crypto" summit on various cases vital for Bitcoin privacy. The IRS. Treasury. And the OCC.

“Maybe just 1-2% of all crypto on-chain activity is criminal,” said Jarod Koopman, Director of Cybercrime at IRS Criminal division.

“Criminal use of cryptocurrencies are really more publicized than they should be, because we know most of the crime happens with traditional banking tools. The use of any crypto is only a small tool that has nothing to do with the underlying crime.”

Positive-rights bitcoin state bills lack enforceability + are mostly declarative. Neither entrepreneurs nor users can count on them in this regulatory environment.

Great momentum, but unfortunately not where we should focus our advocacy efforts.

BTC was always safe in OK.

It seems The Post Millennial newsletter list got pwned.

Is vaping safer than smoking? Obviously YES.

Nicotine is not your enemy.

thank you

Really like playing with cashu so far. Just don't want to trust someone else's lightning node (funding source). There's legitimately no information on these mints thus far, and the rug potential is huge.

Really want to try my own mint to connect with some in my "community".

Can't really connect to my main node since I can't extract tls.cert and it seems LNbits SaaS instance doesn't allow new sign-ups.

Tried to install nutshell on my own VM and then a separate linux machine, but only run into errors. Same with the other programming languages.

I don't really trust running lightning nodes on raspberry pi anymore, so I'm having to re-sync a chain on a miniPC with EmbassyOS, fund it, and then install LNbits on top of it.

What's the simplest, easiest way to spin up a mint? Is there a binary or appimage somewhere?

Happy new Childish Gambino Album Day to those who celebrate

So if I understand this correctly, if you use a cashu mint, you’re just using someone else’s lightning node for liquidity and all routes? Sending and receiving out of that mint will — in principle — be the funding source, which will just be the mint manager’s node?

So if I want to create my own nostr:npub1fa789c2c57agz7v5w90yesvf3myd5jakjzgz28w7jl8fvqchy6nqlu6rn6 I need to hook it up to my lightning node?

🚨My Q to US Treasury's main cyber crimes advisor here at the FT Crypto summit in London:

QUESTION: Why is the US gov't more focused on arresting open-source developers creating self-custody tools for privacy (Samourai Wallet, TornadoCash) than specific ransomware actors whom you can, and have, tracked, those who actually carry out and benefit from these crimes?

ANSWER: "I do share your concerns, I cannot speak for other actors or agencies in the government, but there is a method to the madness. Everything else is above my pay grade, I'm afraid"

When evaluating fedimints or cashu mints, is there a better depository or review page than here?

It seems each mint has incredibly sparse information about their particular advantages/disadvantages
