I actually can only listen to non-fiction audio books. Not sure exactly why but for fiction I really need the actual book.
I love audiobooks and podcasts but only because it allows me to multitask. If I’m going to relax, it will be with an actual book.
Here’s my proof
I routinely do both of these things, but I have found that I only enjoy non-fiction audio if it’s read by the author. I want to hear their voice telling the story. If it’s fiction, I cannot enjoy it without reading it myself. I’m sure that says something weird about me, just not sure what yet.
Starlink - but can’t help you with the Uber eats. I have family in the middle of nowhere Georgia. Ordering a pizza meant a 35 minute drive to go pick it up. Even Pizza Hut won’t offer delivery out in the backwoods.
I’m a Virginian, born and raised. My Dad’s side of the family is also still in southwestern VA, on the farm my great great grandfather built with his own two hands. They’re still growing tobacco and beans too.
The thing most people don’t understand is that these aren’t political people. They don’t vote or follow political races anymore. They genuinely believe that the left and right are two sides of the same coin and no matter who gets elected, they’ll get screwed. History has shown it to them over and over again, and I can’t find the lie there. So it is somewhat remarkable that they’re showing an interest at all. And Oliver Anthony is bringing it in a format they know, understand and already like. He is one of them, inherently trusted far more than any politician, and he’s saying the things they know they aren’t supposed to say out loud but think all the time. One of them is being recognized and he’s singing what they were thinking.
This isn’t left or right, it’s just forgotten people trying to be remembered and seeing a chance to tell everyone else that they’re still there, growing tobacco and beans.
There’s a whole generation out there that got participation trophies. They think they should get paid just for showing up. Let ‘em know, you gotta work to get paid!
Cuing up my favorite meme for my favorite cat
You’ve got that inverted, my friend.
Your life truly begins when you realize that the world doesn’t owe you a thing.
Sadly, most people never realize it at all…
The inverse is a better alternate view, imo.
Life only truly begins when you realize that the world doesn’t owe you anything. And sadly, some people never realize it at all.
The ability to instantly learn anything and retain the knowledge.
I was never sure if my dislike of touch was a symptom of my ASD or if it was just bc I don’t really like most people. I experience sensory overload pretty quickly with touch though, so it’s probably the ASD.
NPCs gonna NPC
I’m CERTAIN that I missed a lot. Pretty sure it was a 6th grade reading assignment.
Honestly, I barely remember it. Was forced to read it in grade school. Should probably go back and have another look as an adult
Wrote a really fucked up book about becoming a big - so we named a trap after him.
Yeah, but we are far more entertaining than she could have possibly been. You traded up
