It is dangerous to dismiss their popularity and chalk it to gerrymandering.
If Democrats are not careful, they'll lose more seats in 2024. Abortion is not going to be the issue that saves them.
The economy and immigration are going to be hot topics for the mainstream media.
And it leans Republican.
The country as a whole is center-right.

I disagree. The economy and immigration are important, but not critical issues to the majority of registered voters. The last three election cycles have been driven by younger Americans. I don't see that trend changing and actually, I see civil rights and voting rights driving historic turnout. Republicans have overplayed their influence and exposed the corporate force driving their decline.
Republicans have not proven to be good faith brokers of Democracy.
