Some 60 years ago several European countries decided that it was a good idea to join the nuclear sharing program, storing US nuclear bombs in their own territory.
Interesting enough, the secret codes necessary to use these bombs are kept by the USA. They basically put a massive target on their back, without any guarantee on the possibility of using them if needed.
As the old saying goes, “not your keys, not your bombs”.
I can’t compare to Twitter as I haven’t used it in the last 5 years. However the same holds true for me if I compare it to Mastodon
Welcome
If you'd like some help about this weird protocol we call NOSTR I wrote some guides here:
I would start with this one here for some basic concepts:

If you have questions, the tag #asknostr is a good place to start.
If you want to write a brief hello, use the #introductions hashtag to allow people to find and welcome you.
Enjoy freedom speech and money.

It can be confusing at times, but I guess this is one of the reason I’m here. Thanks!
Yes, that would be possible.
If you want to get even more exotic, Blockstream run the Bitcoin blockchain from space.

Of course there are offline Bitcoin protocols like e-cash that don't require the Internet at all.
This is honestly impressive, thank you for sharing
So what we’re saying is that a .psbt file can be signed offline and propagated through a mesh (either Wi-Fi, LoRa, or even bluetooth) without a connection to the internet, until it reaches a Bitcoin node?
Right, but the markup on current spot price is abysmal
I’ll try to swap via Edge wallet first, as suggested by nostr:nprofile1qqsqclyp986x6wkzw9ax3pgkl3h2qg49legs97cdasg5yj3se9ya6ycpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt9w3sk6ctyv4jkuctg9e3k7mgpzdmhxue69uhhyetvv9ukzcnvv5hx7un8h07w4f but thank you for your help
Edge was my first wallet a few years ago, I’ll give it a try again. Thank you
To add to this, transactions with no deposit have a minimum of 18% of markup on the current trading price, which I’m not willing to take.
Ok so, I’m trying to buy my first #XMR via Retoswap, but apparently I need to deposit some XMR in order to buy it, and I have none. How do I solve this conundrum? #asknostr
Thanks for the tip!
Rephrasing my previous note: would a mesh solution similar to BitChat work for the transmission of #bitcoin (or other p2p currencies)?
So let’s take #Iran as an example. Let’s assume that there’s an internet blackout during a nationwide protest. What are your options to 1) communicate in a censorship-resistant form and 2) transfer value (e.g. Bitcoin)?
Hey there!
Good intentions for 2026:
study and try #Nostr;
study and install #GrapheneOS;
study and buy #Monero;
study.
First time on #Nostr and I’m truly fascinated by the underlying idea. As usual, I have this weird feeling about sharing my thoughts to literally no one, but I won’t let this stop me this time.
