There is this idea of “activation energy” required for biochemical reactions to occur. These reactions are not energetically favorable to spontaneously occur, and so, they require a catalyst (enzyme) to reduce the initial “activation energy” for the reaction to proceed.
This is to say, the first step is the hardest. We all know this anecdotally. That first hump, that initial immediate obstacle is usually the most difficult to overcome, and once you do, you gain some traction towards whatever you’re working towards.
Just gotta get over that first hurdle.
I’m not so quick to vilify anger. Sometimes that’s the best fuel. I guess it depends how much it consumes you. But some of the things I’ve done that I am most proud of, the catalyst to overcome the initial hurdle was anger, or frustration.
There is a song called “We Can Make It Better” by Kanye West off the Late Registration album. This song was only released in Australia on an extended version of the CD. But it’s a great little tune. Gotta YouTube it to find it, worth the search if you appreciate some old Ye.
