Generate a new seed using the hardware wallet. Do not take a photo or store it digitally in any way. Put on metal plates or on paper or some other analog format. Not digital!
Before you transfer funds add a BIP39 pass phrase to the device. This should be something memorable. Then transfer funds to new cold storage device.
The digital attack vectors are huge vs a metal plate with a padlock on it buried in garden or whatever.
Key point each of us only know a few hundred people in person but online we are connected to millions.

the way I think about it is:
- WoS for pocket money/sats from KYC sources
- Phoenix for more meaningful working-money/sats from non-KYC sources
- cold-storage for sats you won’t touch for 10+ years
My kids use Muun but i have concerns with the non standard seeds etc
However hard #Bitcoin self custody is to learn for you this is the first time you have ever really held your wealth.
You have a home? Where are the deeds?
You have shares? Who custodies them?
You bought an ETF? Who has the underlying asset?
I do like the recent line of questioning from @petermccormack if all can be self sovereign on #bitcoin.
The other big conundrum as i see it is miners mine if its profitable, transactions on base chain are easier when its not expensive.
There is a symbiotic relationship between the need for transactions and mining being profitable.

#stonks have dilution / buy backs.
#gold is only scarce at a price
#bonds are fucked

After having an SSD die on my #umbrel node some form of backup or redundancy option is needed more than I realised. Especially if you are using it to store anything important.
While I will never buy a #Bitcoin ETF their ability to stabilise the price is likely a good thing.
Fund manager Bob allocates 1% of portfolio to #Bitcoin … when the price rises a lot Bob Sells to maintain the 1%.
The price drops, and he buys.. this could actually save us from all the laddered longs capitulation that we see with the crazy leverage that builds up in bull markets.
Price stability will likely drive further adoption as those with paper hands or those who cant risk the downs would be happier to hold / use.
