The 70 I follow I see 5 or 6 in a day and when I visit their feeds I see they’ve noted a lot that I don’t ever see.

Signups to nostr can’t be limited because there’s nothing you absolutely have to sign up for to use it. You only need to sign and publish a note and BOOM you’re using nostr and anyone can read it. All the additional stuff like media hosting, NIP-05 registration, etc., enhances the experience but you can still publish using nostr without any of that.
