Any other typescript devs on here? What's your latest project or idea? (Bonus if it's nostr related)

I'm back after a hiatus after switching phones. I'm hoping to connect with some people. We'll see.

The mainstream is safe, but the truth is often not safe. Truth tellers need to be able to risk ostracism. They're comfortable in the fringe.

I'm so close to making my first $1 with TakeAndPay.co

I was grinding for weeks to launch a new requested feature: live checkout. Our first customer needed to use it for a convention yesterday.

Finished the night before. Found a production issue on the day of. Intermittent. No lots besides a mysterious "failed to fetch" error. I thought I had fixed it. Nah.

My customer was primarily accepting cash, but had TakeAndPay for CC purchases. The first CC customer was late in the day, and they saw a 500 error on the return page after Stripe.

Instead of "payment complete" they saw "500 internal server error". NOT GOOD.

The damage was not irreparable though. My customer messaged me, and was gracious. Shout out to all those first customers by the way, who help us iron out those bugs. You guys rock.

The bug turned out to be a compatibility error between nodejs and next js. A super dumb type of error to be honest. There was nothing wrong with my code. It wasn't even a timing error between the stripe webhooks and the page loading. Just a dumb compatibility issue.

(Side note. It's always a catch-22 between using the bleeding edge versions of libraries and using older "stable" versions.)

Now is day two of the convention and here's hoping that I'll have my first production user and my first dollar made from this product.

I can't express how much of a milestone that would be. I've talked so long about making apps and products. To have something actually working and being used is something I'm really proud of.

1 week left to ship a new TakeAndPay feature for our first (planned) customer! We're coming in hot!!

The feature is a "live checkout" flow where the seller makes a QR code and shows it to the buyer.

(I'm sorry nostr, this is just a Stripe wrapper. Nothing Bitcoin/Web3 yet(?) because I am only human... This thing almost didn't even happen at all. I have bills to pay)

Can we normalize saying "with all respect" instead of "with all due respect"? It feels like a cheap shot.

Seller "wurknman" on eBay seems based. People who stand up for themselves in this way are reliable.

I need to remember this next time someone asks me my age.

"How old are you?"

"Older than I deserve..." (in a Dave Ramsey voice)

Just published my first CIP — which stands for "Coracle's Impish Precautions" over on Wikifreedia: https://wikifreedia.xyz/cip-01/97c70a44366a6535c1

If it wasn't clear, this is a NIP for custom feeds. I know nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcqyprqcf0xst760qet2tglytfay2e3wmvh9asdehpjztkceyh0s5r9cscy77s and nostr:nprofile1qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43z7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uqsuamnwvaz7tmwdaejumr0dshszxnhwden5te0wpuhyctdd9jzuenfv96x5ctx9e3k7mf0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcqyqewrqnkx4zsaweutf739s0cu7et29zrntqs5elw70vlm8zudr3y2j089l7 are working on this kind of thing with different approaches. I think it would be swell if we could achieve interoperability with this. Happy to take feedback for any devs that want to chime in.

In Coracle, you can already create your own feeds, as well as search and view feeds other people have created. Coming soon will be list and feed bookmarking, which will make things even awesomer.

I need a NAP...

As a procrastinator, I worry that my startup isn't going to make it. As a deadline approaches, will I be able to implement the features that I promised?

This is why I need deadlines. So I know I'm doing something important.

And yes I know my startup isn't going to "make it" in the sense of being successful (like it could be if I gave it more time and effort and dedication)... of course. But I want to make _something_.

Maybe it'll catch on. Maybe I'll become addicted to shipping and creating products. Maybe I can eventually wean myself off of that corporate paycheck.

But alas, there is no valid sounding solution that does not involve having discipline, an order of magnitude more than I have currently.
